New visor ? before you use it spray on some MrSheen or other household wax product, give it a good polish wait 20 minutes then repeat a couple of times. You will build up a coating of clear wax, which will help shed rain water and road spray without having to wipe it away and inevitably scratch the visor.

Also good in the summer with helping to stop the dead flies that have gone crusty from sticking. If that is an issue soak a piece of kitchen towel in water then lay it on the visor overnight. In the morning you can peel it off along with most of the "roadkill" :D
And a light smear of shampoo on the inside works well for anti fog.

The problem I had was the USB charger that plugged into my car charger socket on the bike would vibrate loose as I rode. I decided to go to a powerlet socket which clips the plug in place to stop it working loose.
Now I had no way of plugging powerlet to USB so I thought I'd make an adaptor lead. This lead can be made any length and I thought it could be handy to run from the bike to my tent to charge accessories if it was raining. ( the plug can be powerlet or car charger whichever you prefer.
Go outdoors had them £7. in the caravan section
ummm... couldn't you just buy a usb cable extension? is your setup going to be waterproof?

Do Go Outdoors have them in 1. varying lengths? 2. With a powerlet plug?

It's waterproof where I've mounted it behind the headlight while riding but I also have the Kriega small pocket to put it in when stopped.

Actually if you have any cases or wheels polished, a mate Doug who is a polisher and plater in Baldock,Herts swears by it to keep the shine. None abrasive and a few layers protects against staining and corrosion.

Baby shampoo is best as it has no salt in and is also great for cleaning a greasy visor in the winter months ... adult stuff and washing up liquid sometimes contains salt, and salt scratches.

Flats in the wild
As I was surfing the TV channels yesterday I happened across Mythbusters... Flats in the wild.
To anyone with connections in Hackney, this will probably conjure up images of Nelson Mandella Towers! :)

But part of the programme was about get you out of a situation fixes to a tyre.
Now admittedly the vehicle was a car, but I think this could work with a motorcycle, or push bike just the same.
Anyway the Myth was that in such an event hey or straw could be used in the tyre so as you could drive out... and it was true you can, but with the proviso that you take it easy.

Wax lyrical
I'd forgotten about this one, when effecting repairs that require sewing I got royally fed up of the supposed "strong thread " either being weak, or catching on the material that I was sewing to which I employed the little grey cells... ( You'd never guess that I also watched Poirot yesterday )... and came up with this nifty little fix, I used dental floss.
It's stronger than ordinary thread, and it's lubed with wax so slips easier through the fabrics that are being repaired.

You can ride horses, walk dogs with skates on, swim etc
I read this a couple of years ago in Bike magazine and it concerned facts and figures from Moto GP; Now the days of sweating into your crash helmet are a distant memory we look forward to Spring and Summer so we can sweat into them once again.
To prevent it being absorbed into the helmet liner, place a ladies panty liner inside, it wont slip and is very absorbent.

Seeing through the dirt
Again I'd forgotten about this one .. (the benefit of BMW ownership).. Imagine your out on the trail and need to find the split link without the frustration of cleaning the mud off every link until you find it, simply put a few dabs of paint on the link, yellow, orange or white seem to work best.
The end of the road is the start of the fun

Apologies if this has allready been posted

i put a length of tube into my handlebars in case i have to take diesel out of a petrol tank (nuff said) or i need fuel off someone else.

The tube i use is the clear stuff from the local aquarium places so you can see the nasty tasting fast juice getting close to lips. cheap too!

also perfect size for connecting to bleed nipples at brake bleed time

does not work well with clip-ons.lol

Just following up on the USB power options in this thread I thought this might help someone. I didn't want to fit a 12v cigar socket as there's not much space on the KTM and I'd still need another adaptor to then convert to USB. After a bit of searching I found this: weatherproof USB socket I can't find a UK supplier but they ship from the states and it arrived very quickly.

I fitted this onto a home made bracket on the bar risers and wired it directly so its live when the ignition is on.

For Nav I use an iPhone and for a went with one of these in the end
iphone holder
It's waterproof and has never come loose even on some very rough stuff.

ballpoint pen springs are perfect replacements for switchgear springs

if you have a varadero DO NOT carry a siphon tube, your mates will steal your petrol when they run out and you still have 10 litres left

always carry a pot with a selection of screws washers and nuts, and jubilee clips (jubilee clips can be joined together to make any length you want so a few smaller ones are handier than big ones)

zipties are brilliant, my scottoiler tube has been held to my swingarm for four years by the same 3 zipties
