Some form of heat protection is good idea where it passes the exhaust
I know naff all about packing, but this seems extra wise for the simple reason that if you have them "....from just behind my leg to the back of the top box, even if they stick out the back a bit" and anyone tail ends you just a bit in traffic...
Just a thought.

(Incidentally, I've given up on my tent - I reckon I can steal into a corner of Jelly's setup at the next bash and he'll never notice.)

Good point but hopefully its so unlikely it'll be worth the risk

I'll notice alright, 8 quid a night to rent out a small corner ;)

I had a little tinker today, I'll get the poles on either way.

Length ways....

Or width ways.

width ways doesnt look too bad, its only a few extra inches. Just remember they are there when you try filtering!!!!

They seem pretty long poles, the ones with my quechua tarp are in 2' sections. I assume this is meant as a caravan type tarp/awning then jerry? Be warned, everyone wants to be your mate when its chuckin it down :-)

I think i'll go length ways TBH.

I don't think filtering will be much of an option with those wardrobes attached to each side, regardless of the poles.

The poles are scavenged from an old toilet tent, the long ones give me the best configuration of the tarp, I'll take em all though in case I want to swap it about a bit.

We picked up a Vango Adventure tarp on the way to Chagstock, not a huge thing but more than enough space to creat a cooking and sitting space. Works better with their dome tents as it has an elasticated edge to extend the porch. Hut a good HH and kept the rain of us in Devon :D

BTW our Vango poles curse struck again and the supplied one is now in a skip in Okehampton ;)
