You could legitimately argue for your money back in this case, less am amount for fair useage which shouldnt me much for 2000 miles.

I'll say though DB that your attitude with this has been remarkably refreshing. Usuall in these types of thing on forums the person is spitting the dummy, threatening the manufacturer (incorrectly) with ming the merciless and generally whining to anyone who'll listen, so bravo for staying objective and cool (thumbs)

Thanks for the positive comments - I'm fortunate in that I don't need it for everyday use, I'm also well aware that this is a complete "One Off" issue .
I spend my working day appeasing customers that have Equipment that has broken down or they have damaged so I know what its like to deal with "awkward" Customers.
Last year I owned another Bike from a different Manufacturer and saw posts on "Owners Forums" exactly as you describe, sometimes patience does pay in the long run !
its all a question of Perspective I suppose ;-)

I can't see why they can't just take one off the prod line and have done with it,a few years ago a friend of mine had a brand new Jaguar and the gearbox failed. To keep him happy and get the car back on the road a.s.a.p. they took one from the production line and he was back on the road within 2 weeks.

That's the advantage of buying British...or more to the point a British car with a gearbox from an external supplier...you won't get them to stop a line in Japan so they can ship a loose engine to Blighty when production numbers of engines and bikes are probably very closely matched.

As Richard has pointed out, I was told at the time of Failure that there is no "spare capacity" on the production line, I suspect this may be exaggerated by the fact other models (with higher sales figures) probably take priority when it comes to the production line.
Maybe I should have pushed for a new Bike at the time, but thats hindsight for you ;-)
