Here's one that can spoil the day, or make you take an unplanned detour to a shop.
If like me you like to take the odd picture; carry a set of spare batteries, better still make sure the ones in your camera are good and healthy to start with.

You been listening to Grant lol re the Air Carts I found a place that does a really big 1scouse wrote:While we are on tyres... if you have a plug kit with compressed air cartridges - chuck them away. They are insufficient to inflate or seat a tyre , take up space and weigh more than a small electric compressor or a hand pump.
Also when you buy a repair kit write the date on the glue and always check it before a trip. It goes off so if it is 18months to 2 years old buy a replacement tube

The problem I had was the USB charger that plugged into my car charger socket on the bike would vibrate loose as I rode. I decided to go to a powerlet socket which clips the plug in place to stop it working loose.
Now I had no way of plugging powerlet to USB so I thought I'd make an adaptor lead. This lead can be made any length and I thought it could be handy to run from the bike to my tent to charge accessories if it was raining. ( the plug can be powerlet or car charger whichever you prefer.
ummm... couldn't you just buy a usb cable extension? is your setup going to be waterproof?

Why not just use a K & N perminant free flow air filter just wash it out, save on the long run & paying for a new air filter. + you get an extra 1 or 2 bhp as the engine breaths a bit better means the fuel burns better.Smelly Dog wrote:Always carry some spare chain, with clips & Small chain breaker...
Also a bit of J Cloth over your air filter will double the length of time of your air filter..

And 950's........I know you pointed this out Stan but it wasnt until recently that I saw all this valuable storage space.....now mines in bits and all.......stanbloke wrote:On Ktm 990......there is space inside the fairing to tape/cable tie a pair of inner tubes.
They are then always on the bike without you having to pack them in a bag or rucksack.
I know where my spares will be going.

Nope ... several people I know, including me, have tried and failed to fully inflate a tyre with the ones you get in the kit...Selous wrote:You been listening to Grant lol re the Air Carts I found a place that does a really big 1scouse wrote:While we are on tyres... if you have a plug kit with compressed air cartridges - chuck them away. This is a good one for the road.
New visor ? before you use it spray on some MrSheen or other household wax product, give it a good polish wait 20 minutes then repeat a couple of times. You will build up a coating of clear wax, which will help shed rain water and road spray without having to wipe it away and inevitably scratch the visor.
Also good in the summer with helping to stop the dead flies that have gone crusty from sticking. If that is an issue soak a piece of kitchen towel in water then lay it on the visor overnight. In the morning you can peel it off along with most of the "roadkill"

Tip for which tools to take
Admit it have you got the tools you need to get at or remove to fix and bodge a problem ?
simples strip your bike down remove pannels guards headlights wheels etc
then look at what tools you have used then duplicate
Also service your machine with these tools that you carry
Of course the real trick is only taking the minimum of what you need not lots of bulk

Reading Scouse's tips above, reminded me of another use for MrSheen ...it is demon at ridding your back wheel and bodywork of chain fling.
