Re: Recommend me a smartphone under £150
After being a big fan of the Moto G range, I have become a little less enthusiastic of late....
Battery life seem to fall of BIG time after 8-9 months and 3 of us in the family have noticed this and of course, the effing things are not (easily) replaceable. In fact, it's a major operation.* I run with wi-fi and BT and gps OFF during the day, to save life.
The second issue is the use of SD cards. If you set up the card to act as internal memory, the bloody thing stops recognising the card after a while. This is a relatively common software related problem across the 3 and 4 I believe from research. I had a top drawer branded card from a proper retailer die, to be followed by it's no name replacement. Now, I am just using the card for storage. The card that was not being recognised was reformatted and is happy doing service elsewhere....
* Bring back proper replaceable battery phones!!!! It's all built-in obsolesence by the bloody manufacturers.

what phone did you smash, did my i4s a few years back the only salvageable bit was the chassis ring so i got on line bought all the bits and built my own for £73 and still use it today.
if you get an older working iphone dont put any upgrades on it as it will flood the memory and seize the phone useless

its pretty easy to change the batterys on most phones, just make sure you buy the correct batterys and not just cause its cheap, same with sd cards for gopro's

The Moto G range needs the screen removing, which entails heating the glue holding the screen in place as part of the strip down, then faffing with micro tools to access the battery. :unsure:ollydog wrote:its pretty easy to change the batterys on most phones, just make sure you buy the correct batterys and not just cause its cheap, same with sd cards for gopro's

Agree totally about cheap SD cards, however, it can be hard to suss fakes
