Big Bike Rally Challenge

I am doing the first rally sprint event and the K2. Probably the only ones I will make but tempted to do the dawn2dusk as well (although I know it's not an official BBRCevent )

And i'm down south, well I think Hertfordshire counts as south

I'm down for the sprint in April, just hope the knee is fixed by then. But if I'm not fit i'll probably be there helping out anyway.

I already have an entry for the Keilder and hope to do all the others:


22nd April - Rally Moto Sprint Rally (Mid Wales)

9/10th June - Keilder Rally (Northumberland)

7/8th July - Rydale Rally (Yorkshire)

11/12th August - Beacons Rally (South Wales)

30th September - Hafren Rally (Mid Wales)

13/14th October - Cambrian Rally (Mid Wales)

And I hope to a crack at the Dawn to Dusk too (25/26th August - South Wales)

picking up my new (to me) bmw xchallenge this weekend... :woohoo: :woohoo:

have to sit down and think about which ones i can realistically make... really want to do the dawn til dusk and the hafren..

a question for those that did them last year - if you had to drop two, which two would you not do?

Well I only started in October with the Hafren and the Cambrian so no real knowledge. However I would recommend both. The Hafren was technically harder but a great atmosphere due to the arena set up at Sweet Lamb. The Cambrian was a bit more epic with multiple rides down the Strata Florida :laugh: and of course it's over two days which is a different challenge.

From a practical point of view the distances involved would be the real decider:

For me it's

Sprint 199 miles
Hafren 199 miles
Rydale 205 miles
Cambrian 238 miles
Beacons 227 miles
Kielder 268 miles

So on that basis I should drop the Kielder but that's the one I'm already entered for :whistle:

From talking to others, the Beacons was possibly the hardest but that seems to be partly due to the weather.

And I have a two bike trailer if anyone wants to share transport costs

14th/15th October - Cambrian (Soar Y Mynnydd, Tywi Forest, North East of Llandovery, Camarthenshire)

And the Dawn to Dusk is 25th/26th August (Bank Holiday W/E) - Walters Arena, Nr Glynneath)
