Got any more picture of it, like one of the end not with the crimps? Looks a bit like a buzzer or something, indicator relay with a buzzer to let you know its flashing maybe? Or alarm/horn? What is it wired into?

Not sure about the other one, unplug them and see what doesn't work

No, it shouldn't do that.
Is the sprocket nut correctly tightened and secondly, is there a flange washer? (I can't remember if the XR has one)

It has a wee oval plate with 2 x 10mm nuts holding sprocket onto shaft and these appear to be tight. Here's a video of the free play, sorry, don't know how to embed video.

Ah...yes, I remember, it doesn't have a central 'nut' that holds the sprocket onto the shaft, does it? It's just held on by the plate with two bolts either side? If so, then it will have movement so unless it's absolutely rocking from side to side by a really excessive amount it will be fine. I think some of the XRs have this system and some have a conventional 'nut' with a flange washer and in that case the sprocket doesn't move sideways. I had the first system with my XR280 and I thought wtf when I felt it moving...!

Sure most hondas have a little movement ..when it heats up it expands...my ccm has loads of movement...but thats a suzy lump...

Check the splines arwnt fubared...just watched vid..try a new flange as they are supposed to be replaced with new sprockets..not expensive and do wear...

Oval flange is £3 and only available from Honda (thumbs)
