Re: Why do people ride around with full luggage on all the time?

ha ha thanks sprockette for the first laugh of the morning.... you might want to watch where you're sticking your nose though... :whistle:Sprockette wrote:Before they died a corroded death at the end of their 9th salty winter I used to keep my long suffering soft panniers on my Bandit just because they usually were very useful, didn't weigh much at all and were not very wide. I doubt I'd remove anything from my bike as a safeguard from the thought-police.
I'm not a big fan of hard luggage and I know that was what the question was about, just thought I'd stick me nose in.Someone may feel the same about their hard ones. Admittedly, you can do more with hard ones than you can with soft ones.

Re: Why do people ride around with full luggage on all the time?
hmmm
Some people seem prejudiced claiming that most Hard panniers are hardly going anywhere but to the local icecream bar.
My Zega boxes has, so far, been travelling close to 40.000 km in 19 different countries in less than 3 years.
Much of these kilometers have been off the tarmac, fully packed with my wife as pillion rider.
I just wonder what's the reason for trying to denigrate people for having a dream?

If I see panniers I just think, that bike is not used to commute! Top boxes and rucksacks are for commuting.

Dont take it the wrong way...
The original question was asking why people keep their luggage on as a permanent fixture as i cant see it to be anything but unpractical.
I have zega boxes too
but i would never commute with them on as i just find it annoying
