Looks like you need to invest in some decent stainless steel bolts and work your way round the bike repalcing them.If you have some Torx keys you might get away with knocking one into it to get a grip on the head.

The outer came undone easily. The inner is the rounded one. Is the spindle just that large hex head?netsonic wrote:Tyrant68 wrote:Guess I won't be riding this BH
After 1500 trouble-ish free miles (a few cut-outs) came out to a flat front this afternoon.
Tried to get it out but ching chong quality 6mm allen key bolt , done up by worlds strongest man has rounded off. Outer came undone ok. Take it spindle is just a large hex head, which too has been done up WSM
Guess it's roof down on the Peugeot to Bruntingthorpe tomorrow.
Was taking the bike to stop me buying.
Bit of a long shot but if you re tighten the good 6mm up as far as you dare and assuming there is a bit left on the bad 6mm try to loosen it, only do a quarter turn then do a quarter turn on the good 6mm and keep alternating along this approach....... (thumbs) ...they should be no more than 15Nm

Hi Andi. Have a box as I replaced as many selftaps on the KTM that I could.Andi_Archer wrote:Looks like you need to invest in some decent stainless steel bolts and work your way round the bike repalcing them.If you have some Torx keys you might get away with knocking one into it to get a grip on the head.

Re: WK400 owners thread.
that bolt is in an ideal place for filling the hole with wd40 or plus gaz etc. leave it to soak over night and refill the hole with the same release agent if it works its way through, leave it an hour then hammer a torx head socket into it,should come out easy enough.put a bit of copper slip on before refitting them as they get all the road crud, mud and worst of water crossings.obviously replace with better quality bolts.probably a good idea to replace and copper slip the caliper mounting bolts too as they"ll be next to sieze.pad pins too while you"ve got the tools/grease out (thumbs) which moves us nicely onto doing the rear caliper and while your back there remove and copper slip the chain adjuster bolts.when was the last time you greased the shock mounts....more coffee needed :silly:

Re: WK400 owners thread.
Finally got a chance to test the bike since I adjusted the tps to 0.74v. I got to the end of the road before it stalled, got it started without having to turn the ignition off, rode a bit further and it stalled again. Then the problem seemed to clear. Did a few laps of the estate, braking hard and riding at low revs with no issues. Took it for a 50 mile blast and didn't stall once. The bike also seemed to accelerate better and I could accelerate up to 70mph smoothly, whereas before I would hit a flat spot about 60 and gradually build to 70. Will hopefully go trail riding this Wednesday and see whether it is totally cured.
Tyrant, heat and an impact driver with a larger bit usually works for me on ceased bolts.

very quiet on the WK front..............
had a go at removing the front tyre at the weekend, not for fun but wanted to remove the rim lock so the front wheel would be more balanced and dont intent to ride with very low pressure, not tried it yet but its some 85 grams so should make a big difference. I also wanted to practice tyre removal, never done one on a motorbike in all the years ive been riding so bought some tyre spoons and rim protectors and found it very straightforward, im sure the back will be harder but to be honest changing my mountain bike tyre is more difficult than the motorbike........go figure

Re: WK400 owners thread.
You will find it a lot harder when you put a new tyre on and taking off as there is no give in the side walls with a tyre that's got a few hundred miles on tends to soften at the walls a bitnetsonic wrote:very quiet on the WK front..............![]()
