Peru day 13 to Tarma
It started with hill climbing up to the altiplano. 4 200 m. Rather slow due to hairpins, heavy traffic and pot holes in the tarmac.
photo taken at 4 370 m Then a twisty and nice part down to Tarma. “only” 3 000 m. Room on forth floor. Puh
When I reached the altiplano, things changed. The road divided in two directions. A lot of traffic took the road that I did not use. And the tarmac was perfect. Nice cruising on constant altitude around 4 000 to 4 200 m. I passed a lake. Or what had been a lake according to maps and photos. But almost no water was left.photo taken at 4 370 m Then a twisty and nice part down to Tarma. “only” 3 000 m. Room on forth floor. Puh

The town Tarma
Tarma was a nice place. They had a local market and festival. At the same time as they prepared for Christmas. Nice weather. Relaxing evening.
I have both day time and night time pictures. From festival, plaza and the church. Both inside and outside. Hard to pick a few.

Peru day 14 to Villa Rica.
This was a day of exploring.
There were some waterfalls, bridges and view point on the map.

Peru day 15 to Puerto Bermudaz
The shit hit the fan after a short ride. The road was all gravel, dirt and mud. Destroyed by the rain. And at the same time zig-zag up and over the mountain and down again. 6 h to ride 120 km.
A view from the map:
Muddy road:
Waiting for road to be repaired.
A man there gave my advice of where to stay over night. A bit shorter than I had planned. And a quiet nice village. 8 km from the main road.
Search for the machine in the slope !!

In the jungle
La Selva
Finally there :
What a wonderful place to rest. I did not know about this place. So I had a booking for next two nights in Pucallpa. Else, I would have stayed here an extra day. With garden and outdoor furniture.
Best place so far.

December 24 Pucallpa
Christmas.
But 250 km/5 h to ride before rest day.
It was overall a smooth ride.
The roads were nice. With some small parts with damages. For long part of the ride I was riding together with a Colombian guy. On his way to Christmas with his family. He was riding a Honda XL 190 L. A machine that I like. Old school. Carburettor. Drum brake rear. If it was available in Europe, I would buy one. As dirt bike. But it is only Euro 3. And there is no market for this type of bikes in Europe. So we will never see it here.
Today's problem was the police. I was stopped at two checkpoint. Where they did not know what to ask for and what to check. They were not used to foreign bikes and riders. I am really of the beaten tracks.
First stop:
They made problems about my insurance. Even I had the document with stamps and signatures. That I had a 2 month insurance in Peru. They checked the license plate number in their computer system. And could not find anything. OF course. Since it is a Colombian and not Peruvian bike. Then they said that the insurance could not be valid, since it was for two months. And insurances were sold per year. Yes for Peruvians, but not for visitor. You can buy 30, 60 or 90 days. Depending on how long you stay. Never over 90 days. Since that is limit for Visa and TVIP.
Final word was that is was not my fault that the database was not updated, But that I had to makes sure that it was done.
Second stop:
They made problems with driver licence. I had my international license. That is required. Issues by Auto clube de Portugal. They said Auto !! but you have a motorcycle license Yes.. Licence says A: Moto B: Auto.....
More discussion. I showed them my Portuguese license. Still not happy. They asked for a license that I should have got from the customs. Something that does not exists. That the customs should give you a license to ride in Peru. Temporary Import Permission, yes. But drivers license. No !!
It took long time before they let me continue. I don´t know if they wanted to get paid or if they just didn´t know what they were talking about. But finally I rode away.
And arrived in the very busy town Pucallpa. Where I plan a rest. Not easy. All stores and restaurants were closed due to Christmas. I could hardly find something to eat. But I have a nice room to stay in for two nights. And take a day off from riding. Something that is needed. I start to get tired. And making mistakes that I normally not do.
Sleep, water and food is needed.
(that is all for this time)

Some damage to the roads
But the road had taken some hits from the rain, But no problem.
The next day it was heavy rain. So I waited one day before I continued.
I also took the opportunity to change oil and filter in the bike.
