Nice bikes and one I would like in my garage but at £3k budget it could be a challenge.

I've always kept and eye out for one of these. They come up for sale so rarely!

Well, I solved my conundrum. After trying various bikes the Triumph 400 Scrambler won easily.
Plenty of go, super smooth, handles well, the Boss says the pillion is fine, and it can shrug off easy trails.

Cracking bike, blew my intended £3k budget but still, 5-1/2 grand for such a capable new bike with 2year warranty is a steal. A decent E-MTB is more.

It's a modern XL350 - does everything, cheerfully and without fuss. And it's as British as a Balti .

They look nice...interested to hear how you get on.
I wonder how it would compare with the Fantic Cabellero 500?

The Caballero was my second choice. Also a good bike, pillion is a bit less comfortable apparently, fuelling less slick nd they are quite a bit dearer. I still had nagging doubts about reliability/ spares back up - but to be fair owners seem to like them

Maybe it is more of an XT500 equivalent ?

A bit late to the party. For modern versions of XL/DT/TS. Here we have Mash on top of the usual suspects like Voge, Honda, Suzuki and Triumph. For me the Mash ticks most of the boxes of simplicity and low weight/price/technology.
