Brilliant photo of the C90, one of the best I have seen on here and there is a lot of competition, thanks for posting.

I actually had a look at one a few weeks ago, will look for a bike in a few months

I've always fancied one of these, an XL600LM, which harks back to the early days of the Paris - Dakar, when Honda won the bike class using a 500 single in 1982. Unfortunately, getting hold of an XL500R PD is virtually impossible, so settling for a slightly later 600 version is more realistic and there's now one for sale at a local dealer. It looks to be in really clean condition, with around 38k km on the clock.
But, £4995 seems a high asking price.... or is it? (I had a figure of around £3k - £3.5k for a decent example). Any thoughts?

I reckon once lockdown is over and people go back to work they will get tired of having that unfinished project sitting in the garage. One of my brother’s neighbours has bought three bikes in the past year to do up, he has not ridden a bike for years. Once he starts finding out how much the price of spares and consumables has gone up since the eighties, or more to the point once his missus finds out, I think he will get shot of at least two of those projects. With the price of spares from the EU having shot up in the last two months there could be a glut of cheap bikes soon. That’s what I’m hoping for anyway.

Certain bike prices were going up way before Covid.
As has been said it’s the fashionable bikes from the late 70s - early 80s, the price driven up by people in their 50s/60s who now have more disposable income and want to remember their youth - try and buy an RD 250/350 LC
When I was young you could pick up an old Brit bike for next to nothing - then when the 50s/60s generation reached retirement age the prices went up.

You can probably pick up an early CRF250L for not much more than an old DR350. Himalayans look good value.

BTW, I had an XL600 back in the mid 80s - I’ve no plan to buy one again

Brilliant photo ! The only thing we can take with us all the way are the memories.

It's pictures like this, that you'll want on your wall when you get to the care home or wherever, innit ?

Just what I thought when I saw that pic. I really wish I had some pictures of our little biker gang from the late 70s, early 80s. We went all over the place together, smashing up bikes, fixing them and crashing them again. But for some reason no-one ever took any photos as far as I remember. How things have changed. Now teenagers seem to do almost nothing but photograph each other.

That's such a good shot. I'd love to have one like that.
