A guy I know is a plasterer/tiler.

His terms include the phrase..."all material used remains my property until this invoice is settled in full".

They no settle invoice, he removes 'his' tiles and plaster.

He usually only has to take one tile off...

well, that's a good point, so it is

if you work for someone else you don't have any worrys, only to get you weeks wages, no headaches, or sleepless nights, or worrying where your going to get the money to pay the men at the end of the week

noting wrong for working for someone else, but I couldn't do it anymore,

because when you work for yourself, you don't have to listen to the boss and his stupid sh*t anymore, because now you are the boss, you see :P

I paid the man as and when he did the work, there is still a little work left to do and quite a bit of money left to pay, I just want the bill :pinch: I believe if you do a good days work you get the agreed daily rate, if they worked Saturdays they had a breakfast provide. Tea and coffee was always available.

On the other hand some ass wipe fitted some really bad windows to my house I got all my money back and in the end he is out of pocket by about 5k.

I don't understand people who expect workmen to do a decent job when they themselves don't treat them right on the other hand I don't understand workmen who do a crap job then complain when their client gets upset.

If two parties have entered a contract man up and fore fill your part if not sort it out and move on, simple

cheers Spud ;)

That should always be the case Spud
I know what it's like to wait months for my money - often after having shelled out on materials.
So I always make sure I pay anyone that's doing work for me the minute they finish (thumbs)

Same at work - If I get wind any of our QS's are delaying payments to sub-contractors without a good reason, I ask them how they'd like to wait 3 months for their salary - they normally chirp on about having mortgages to pay - so I point out that our subbies are no different.
