So, left work early yesterday and after a quick lunch stop in Hull with a mate I started on the long (and wet) journey south down along the A1.

Around Peterborough ish I was getting fed up of the rain and it 'looked and appeared' to be brighter over to the east. (oh, how wrong was I!) So, a quick change of destination on the sat nav and I found myself heading towards Bury St Edmonds.

Within moments of turning onto the A14, the sky turned a horrible shade of black and the light rain turned into an horrendous downpour for the next 20-30minutes. Creating what seemed a river running down the road.

Alas, it briefly stopped raining and the sun shone once at the grail location. A quick few photos, a latte in Starbucks, fuel in the bike and continued my long slog home air dying my kit as the rain had receded and even had the sun pop out once or twice.

So ticked the London grails last week, apologies for the late posting - been playing soldier in the woods all week at work.

So, quite a sporadic little run to be honest, awoke quite early with the sun streaming in through the curtains and with the weather good and hoping the London roads would be quiet first thing on a Saturday morning (how wrong were we...)

After a quick breakfast, and Louise wanting to ride her bike into town as well - the bikes were warmed up.

After an eventful ride into town with a low sun, diversions, crazy drivers and Louise having never ridden into the centre of London before it was both fun and chaotic at the same time. We finally arrived at St Pauls Cathedral.

It was starting to get warm as well, these were taken just before 9am and I had to strip the t-shirt off and just ride in my jacket as it was SOO warm.

A quick (ish) and rather warm jaunt over to Westminster Abby for the final London grail.

On leaving Westminster we heading over and popped into the The OMC for a brew before heading home.

With today (Jubilee Monday) looking like the best day weather wise Louise and I decided to saddle up and tick Oxford and Gloucester for a nice little day trip and quite possibly the my last grails for a long while (if not my final ones) due to upcoming work commitments and needing permission from my boss for "unessential" travel to Northern Island.

So, after a chilly start we left Fleet and headed to Oxford via Reading and a few back roads. We reached Oxford, and grabbed a brew in Starbucks before heading to grab the all important picture.

Onwards to the A40 Gloucester bound via my Nans in Cinderford, nestled away in the Forest of Dean for a spot of lunch. After filling my boots with more food and cake consumed than can be imagined it was time to head off.

After leaving Gloucester we headed off home down the bypass to Swindon, over the plain through Marlborough and ending up in Tidworth - which will be my new home for the next 5 years starting next Monday. A quick recce of where my new barracks were we joined the A303 at Andover and arrived home some 40 minutes later in time for a well earned rest.

Total mileage of just over 240 miles today and the fuel light on the strom has just come on.

A good days ridding
