On the A10 single carriageway today there was a rider on an escooter (without a helmet) doing about 25mph which was holding up 2 hgv's that had an ambulance stuck behind them
, it won't be long before one of them gets squashed.

Unfortunately they're not going away, there's just not the resources or political will to tackle it.

If every scooter replaces a car, I can only think it's a good thing. It it replaces a pedestrian who then uses it as a faster means of being a pedestrian it's probably a bad thing.

I agree. The principle of 'greener' travel and less pollution/congestion in Cities is a good one but unfortunately there is not the infrastructure to integrate them and it feels like the cart is leading the horse.

I'd have no problem with them if they had to conform to C&U, have a reg plate, insurance and a trained and licensed rider.
But they don't.
Why the hell should car drivers, motorcyclists etc have to pay road tax, have a licence and obey the rules of the road, when anyone can buy one of these and use it knowing that, while it's illegal, they are unlikely to be challenged.

I think the only way to fast track the technology is to have a race series,
E scooter racing it's the future,
Dave.
