To be honest me and Alison avoid the east coast as it's a lot more built up, we much prefer the west coast, you've obviously got a specific place you want to go to but there are a few ways to get there and include the west coast.
I'll probably get loads of people telling me how much we're missing on the east side but we've been into Scotland for 5-6 years and we're still discovering great roads and views.
The borders are great as well and we can usually spend a weekend just travelling on back roads.
