Have you ever thought about joining the A team? I think you would be a welcome addition for them when they keep getting locked in those pesky barns...
Good tips and some can be used even if like me you're not a tenere owner.
I don't think anybody needs to worry about breaking down on your next goats trip as you seem very well prepared.

Loving this thread wibo, loads of useful stuff as I'm on prepping a 660 ten for a trip to Portugal in may. Previously a road only bike, so loads to do. I'll try and get some pictures of mine and my farkles as I go. One thing that is concerning me is the rear brake pedal puncturing the casing if I come off. I can't source the glue on alloy pad, it don't look that strong any way, has anyone strengthened the casing in the pedal area, other than the stock glue on pad?

I have wr 450 pegs on mine, had to grind them away a bit but fitted after a bit of work, I have the same sump gaurd as you, otr, bolted a bit of heavy duty plastic onto it to protect pump, I used an old grip to protect bottom hose,
kept bending rear brake leaver so welded a xr 400 sprung one on, small but works fine, running K&N air filter, like you say some foam filters fall apart, my piper cross did, what you using?

Thanks for the added ideas..by all means keep them coming. Good idea ref. the extended guard to cover the water pump area. I was thinking of cutting my brake pedal to get it lowered to my taste. Good idea ref. the folding tip.
I'm envious......I see you have real forks
I'm using an OTR foam filter...this will rinse in petrol with out damage and coming apart.....some filters will not stand up to petrol.

If the chain breaks you have a potential to damage the gearbox.
I have an aftermarket SS sprocket cover so that I can see the sprocket itself to check wer but also it incorporates the standard chain guard that runs close to the chain over the front sprocket.
I also have an LED which monitors the voltage at the battery. It's just a quick guide to check that you are still charging....................and yes my Ten was the very first to have the reg/rectifier problem.
Not any more as I chopped off the original and hard soldered in another which has the loom potted into the body of the regulatore. This extra length allowed me to reposition the regulator underneath the headlight well out of harms way.

Thanks for your tips..
I have a stainless guard these days from a member on here i.e. aliwakeskate
See here....

At the regulator I have it waterproofed by way of grease and a bicycle tube zip tyed to use as a cover

Good idea to remount it

My pad was loosening and I just used super glue. The goofy pad is better than nothing I suppose.
I travel with JB weld...that and a €2 coin placed and cemented over a casing hole is a start depending on the size of any hole.
By all means feel free to share your tips and upgrades for the colelctive
