I have a bike, therefore I'm a biker.
But I avoid meets/cafes etc. My bike is never fashionable or clean enough and has too many miles on it for those dudes.
I just like to ride ..... here, abroad, solo, 2-up ...... make no difference.
Just so long as I'm not in a pack.
Bikers? Are you one?
Re: Bikers? Are you one?
Sounds like me , 'ere your not my long lost bruvver are you.AndyB wrote:I ride a motorbike but do I call myself a biker? No, but being described as one wouldn't worry me.
I've been to the Ace cafe and it was great fun.
I've been to both the TT and the MGP and usually pop into the Busheys beer tent at least once for the disco and just for the fun of it.
I've taken part in MAG demos. Some of you should remember that without those 'bikers' taking part in the demos your experiences riding bikes would be very different today.
I've been to large winter bike rallies in Germany where the so called biker lifestyle and outlaw approach was taken for granted and they're probably the friendliest bike meets I've ever been to.
Years ago it was a regular occurrence to see pubs and roadside cafes with signs saying no motorbikes but that never bothered me, if they didn't want motorbikes then they didn't want my money and I would never go in any place displaying a sign like that even now.
Do I care how the general public view me? Not in the slightest bit and if they want to view me as a biker then I'm actually quite proud of it because I've had plenty of bikers stop and offer help at the side of the road, other bikers nod or wave to me when I'm riding, some car drivers move over to let me pass them more safely or filter in queues but best of all my wife used to be one of those sleazy biker chicks with their leather jackets and high boots and she still owns and rides 4 different bikes (thumbs)

Proof of "used to be sleazy biker chick" in the past was the request, not current condition.......AndyB wrote:Are you sure? She's 50 on Sunday and I don't think her old leather jacket fits any more even though it's still in a box in the roof.Crossrutted wrote:You know the rule - pictures or it didn't happen. :whistle:AndyB wrote:best of all my wife used to be one of those sleazy biker chicks with their leather jackets and high boots (thumbs)
Bikers? Are you one?
Define "Biker"
No easier than the question
Define "Adventure"
"Biker" is just a label that you could stick on anyone who owns a motorbike.
So yes I am a Biker, or Motorcyclist, or a Rider, or any other label you want to use.
It makes no difference.

I'm not into the biker lifestyle bit but I do think that in many ways I made a so called biker life choice and I enjoy it.

"Sleazy biker chick, thigh boots": that made me sit up and take notice (thumbs)
Re: Bikers? Are you one?
Me a biker well yup I own and ride them but never ride with groups on the road only the odd trf trail ride in the past and avoid meetings never done a rally never stay in biker accommodation don't do clubs or meets can't really say I like bike shows
I just like riding them and going places. Me and missus hornet were in Welsh Wales when a massive demo at horseshoe pass was on 10,000 bikes going one way and us going the other. I like talking to someone on the ferry or tunnel to see where a nd what others do but most are dull but the odd diamond makes up for it like Jesus a dude who we talked with for ages who looked like , well you can guess.
So a biker no , just a guy who travels on motorcycles
Mike

Re: Bikers? Are you one?
Of course it makes no difference, tiz only a name or is it? Define biker, difficult for me as I have already declared I am not one. I was hoping a biker would have posted some qualifications. But to my mind a biker or bikers are part of a group, it's more of a social thing. Oh yes and tattoos and one of those saw'n off denim jackets. Hang on a minuet I have just inter webnified and it says, a motorcyclist, especially one who is a member of a gang or group. As for adventure its a bit like Extreme these days very over used. But the definition is an unusual and exciting or daring experience. So now I shall call my self an Adventure motorcyclist enthusiast!-Ralph- wrote:Define "Biker"

So your not a biker Wow :whistle:captinktm wrote:I was just reading about the "Bikers" in Leeds and thought after 53 years of riding, owning and living bikes I am not a biker! I never been to the Ace cafe in London, on several visits to the Isle of Man, I simply rode round the circuit and watch the racing, never once going to any of the "Biker" doo's in Douglas. I just ride .....alot. So is it me? Or are there other like minded people out there who I guess are .........um .......Riders?
I'm just me no labels needed (thumbs)
