Stove wars 9.6

I love me Trangia too; always have 2 bowls, a stick anything to it frying pan  & a cup of tea from my kettle at a leisurely pace. I've yet to run out of meths, 500ml seems to last me months & you can see when it's low (stupid gas canisters)

I'm yet to find anything that does all of that in the same fairly compact package. Mines pretty battered after 12 years & (I think) being run over :pinch: so open to suggestions myself if there is?

Trangia 27 in non stick. I find the mini is just too small. You can also get the gas conversion from go outdoors for about £25 if you are that way inclined
I went to the Caribbean on holiday with my wife last year.

Jamaica?

No, she wanted to.

I have a Coleman multi-fuel stove and it runs well on unleaded petrol from the bike but can run dirty and the jet block up especially at altitude but i use Aspen fuel and there is no smell and it burns cleaner. It can also be stored almost indefinately without the usual storage problems of modern ethanol laden unleaded fuel. I can only carry a couple of litres on the bike so over a weeks trip it gets a bit of a mixture. My petrol stove does need a bit of maintenance now and then but i have used it for over ten years and i love it.

Ive had quite a few stoves being a Stoveaholic and heres my take on them.

Jetboil - Ace for heating water quickly and really only for drinks but I use it the most

MSR - Petrol bottle etc and messy to light and what a faff with fireballs until it warms up. Then it isnt easy to control the flame (sold it)

Karrimoor Ti - simply screws on the gas bottle works perfectly never let me down plsu packs small . A bargain for £20

Coleman Petrol 442 - great stove works well and easy to control however the vapour pipe will block if you dont use clean fuel

Primus Mini Eta - Gas . Great setup with bowl saucer , wind break and very easy to use in fact I use this one the most . Brilliant bit of kit

I have been using a Primus Omnifuel for about 9 years and I use gas or petrol. Gas is slightly easier and less smelly than petrol. You can also use diesel, paraffin and aviation fuel too. Never needed to try these though. There are different sized brass nozzles/jets in the kit for various fuel types.

I have nearly always used petrol in mine and find it great for wild camping as it is so compact. Often used for boil in the bag meals and the hot water then makes a drink.

Has been superseded by the Omnifuel 2 now and is not cheap.
