Battery last around 6hrs on my Montana 600 and you can use ordinary AA's in an emergency. I now use a powered mount so don't worry any more.
Maps are readily available.

If you can use garmin basecamp well the mobtana is piss easy...also.a.huge thread on ADV and a usefull thread on here by GB...also a.huge info on web satnav forums....

Having a satnav ia a adventure in itself lol....
