Trail riders launch bid to reopen Derbyshire lanes
Re: Trail riders launch bid to reopen Derbyshire lanes
Signed, thanks for trying who ever you are (thumbs)
am no expert , but water will run in the deepest rut or the easiest way, I think this is how rivers were made
making ruts will make erosion inevitable, be it be by a 4wheeler or a 2, or even a rambler! The heavier the traffic the deeper the ruts (obviously), am not bothered personaly who makes them, I pay my taxes and am really not keen on other folk thinking thay can stop me doing something that was legal yesterday, but today it stops!because thay don't do that particular thing, with no thought for any one else! The powers that be only pay attention to the bloke shouting the loudest.

Signed.
I don't get why its being blocked. If you look, Leys lane is just a back road so what amenity is being preserved by stopping traffic. As far as rambling goes, when I go out to the Peak District it certainly isn't to a country lane with nothing to attract me there (like views or local attractions).
I'm guessing someone has a personal agenda or the Park Authority is aiming to close all unpaved roads by stealth for whatever reason.

Here you go...
http://www.friendsofthepeak.org.uk/camp ... he-tracks/
The Christopher Pennell quoted in his position as committee chairman of the PDNPA Audit Resource and Performance Committee is also a Golden Guardian of FoTPD.
But there was no conflict of interest, he assured everyone, before recommending complete TROs on every lane ...

I'm astonished that they (he) could get away with that.
I followed Richards link to FoTPD and got as far as the first paragraph. They admit themselves that a response of 2500 only got support from 53%
hmy:
Thats nowhere near a mandate in anyones terms and could not be backed up in the face of current and historical use (ie common practice).
There was an old woman from the ramblers association (I think) on Countryfile a few weeks back spouting all sorts of crap about banning everyone from the countryside except people she thought were worthy. It just shows what a bunch of narrow minded, self interested, bigoted, blah blah blah (I'm very annoyed

Re: Trail riders launch bid to reopen Derbyshire lanes
Interestingly, the woman on Countryfile wasn't speaking on behalf of the Ramblers in an official capacity. She was, IIRC, flagged up as representing 'walkers'.
She has appeared at the Public Inquiries on TROs claiming to speak for the British Horse Society, but when I asked about her at BHS HQ they could not confirm what her position in the BHS was.
Perhaps that's why she claimed to be representing walkers this time around...the BHS could have asked her to 'cease and desist' from being their spokesman because her views as perviously expressed 'on behalf of the BHS' were not very representative of BHS national policy, which isn't actually anti trail riding.

Re: Trail riders launch bid to reopen Derbyshire lanes
I'm not surprised BHS are not anti trail riding. Horses hooves churn up the ground at least as bad as bike wheels. You can bet once the ramblers have seen off the motorised groups, the horses will be next
