Wrong Tyres

hmy:
Yep stunning machine but the way I see it its a tool for me. Fecking good looking tool but nevertheless a tool.
Since I am fairly rubbish off road I got good in picking her up
Well regarding the tyres, you right on that stretch it was not the right choice but since I dont go off roading all the time,do a lot of 2up touring these tyres are ideal for ME. There is always a trade off and its depends what you happy with simple.
My mate was on bold tourances and didnt drop his more or less than me.98% of the time in my case, the drops are user error not the bike or tyres. I bet I would still manage to drop her with full on off road tyres

Great tyres in the wet. (Pirelli Scorpions MT63 I believe)
Buy yourself a little trail bike.
Join the TRF
Do a lot of winter trail riding.
It'll pay off handsomely when you're on the big jobbie.
There you are 2k's worth of traily will save you 2k's worth of GSA's gravel rash (thumbs)

Trust you Ceri to come back with a syc analysis of it
I have to put myself in a similar bracket 2 to 3. I'd like to push myself firmly into 3 but time to hone skills is always the challenge.
Now talking about number 1, it's interesting taking new people out because some people tend to have a bit of 4 about them. They are naturally good... What changes is they start thinking about it... Then they become naturally bad :silly:
I also think age (or should I say time to be PC) can move some people that might have been 4's back to 3's. To stay a 4 there has to be an element of not thinking and just doing. That is a hard leap for many people to make. Lots of people get older have kids, get mortgages and then start thinking the what if question. The same thing often happens to those that have a fall.
Now 4's... Not many people about in that bracket. It's not just not thinking about the riding, I'm convinced it's not thinking about a lot of things. I've ridden with people off road and on the track that I put in that bracket and they are in a whole new league.

It's a good tip to ride through winter (thumbs)
When I meet folk who say they never (road) ride through winter & say they're nervous when Spring arrives, my usual response (even if I don't say it) is that they should ride all year round.
Despite riding off-road a lot more this summer, I wasn't prepared for the long miles of mud in Cumbria. Lost my nerve along one particular stretch which ruined my confidence for the remainder of the morning

My level would have been -1 that day.
Just like those road riders, I should ride trails more often in winter too :cheer:
