Those rokstraps seem a good idea but aren't they £20 a pop or something.
I use bungees, cargo net, tape, string, chewing gum, zip ties and two 4m webbing locking straps I found for £2.99 in my local bargain shop!

One bit of advice from a friends experience DO NOT use a piece of wood and zip ties to keep you panniers off the exhaust. It caught fire as he overtook a waving motorist and I had to strap the remaining pannier bag to me topbox to get home from France. It made I laugh!

the rock straps look real good ..
but figuring out which ones i need is will take some consideration
they look a brilliant solution if i damage the luggage ..nice one B)

i take on board the comments about soft luggage .. its its my own prefrence
based on past expieriance hard ....ouch :( v soft luggage
..without going into it its super secure and tested .. over some reasonably tough bucking trails ..im confident in their security ..unless damaged

loading ... the big thing on the box is my super dooper downey bed roll thingy .. very light

i havnt got a tent as im sharing ..[lucky bloke ]
so im toting tow ropes and chain tools and stuff for opthers and trying to pack most heavy things forward and low

ive been plaesed with the bike off road with all this stuff on 22kg .approx
i dont think nets would solve my particlar problem but i see the benfits of them ....

My panniers have click-together plastic catches, So after spending ages getting everything to fit right I decided to cable tied these together so they would not come un-clicked.

i use ortlieb bags, and secure everything with straps.

also straps doubles as rope, while camping :)

bungees are ok on smooth tarmac, but, when the terrain gets rough, everything get thrown away, (top boxes including) :(

same bags on the ten .. cant fault them but like any they are subject to damage
so spare securing straps are high on the list ...

Aye , well , I found that when fitted the straps and some of buckles on the panniers, could possibly come adrift as twisted slightly, so just in case.

Here is a diagram (sorry no actual picture).

Worked very well

+1. I've found this system works really well for me as well; both off the beaten track and on the motorway cruises. ;)

In addition, I always finish by wrapping the item linked below around my soft-luggage. It gives me piece of mind when I'm off on foot around a town or the like as I know any opportunists don't stand a chance of casually undoing my stuff and wandering off.... :) ;)
