Finally found some engine covers that offer a bit more coverage than the metal ones Ive seen.
Ive also been promised some new non Orange stickers are in the pipeline

They look like they will work well Skyliner, I fitted an AXP bash plate that has quite good coverage, but they still leave the cases exposed to side impacts.

I am still trying to work out a manual timing chain adjuster, there are different part numbers on some of the assembly compared to the pre-18 units and Rally Raid state that it is a different thread that makes their unit incompatible.
I don't know if it is the external thread on the adjuster plug or the internal thread, if it is just the internal thread then I could possibly botch my own adjuster by mix and matching a 2017 Rally Raid part with a new outer plug
does anyone have a pre-18 husky 701or ktm 690 adjuster that they replaced with a manual unit that I could borrow to work out the differences?

we do carbon/kevlar covers for the 690 but have yet to try them on the 701--basically its the same engine (casings), and the alt cover will fit, but the 701 has boot wear raised edges on the clutch cover--we have yet to try our clutch cover on a 701 but will do so soon. see www.kodamacomposites.co uk

Carbon covers do look nice.

But my worry is how will they cope with impacts from a dismount etc.

Plus they need to be stuck on so will be hard to remove, as against being bolted on.

Do you like the AXP bash plate? Thats at top of my list at the moment. I have a couple of deep "gouges" in the OEM one. Does the AXP cope well with this or would metal be better?
The casings I fitted do have good coverage. (more than any I an remember seeing).

Skyliner, The AXP seem to be doing a good job, I was a little wary of using a plastic plate, but I have heard it get some good whacks when crossing stoney tracks and it is has not been heavily scarred yet just minor scuffs on the underside.
It is a lttle lighter and I believe less noisey than an Alloy plate, though noise is a subjective thing

They have been well tested on the 690 over several years--and even held the case together with an exploding clutch--these are NOT thin bling!. Agreed that they can be difficult to remove--but perhaps you only need to do this when replacing it. Not sticking it on securely will make it easier to remove, but also increases the chance of loss. Finally the extra rubbing strips added by Husqvarna means that the 690 case (clutch) won't fit, but the alternator will. We are in the process of designing a common cover as the 690 KTM looks like its carrying on in some form. We try and make serious offroad protection and have yet to receive a report of any failure/ case puncturing through an off.
