I noticed you had a new bike every year for about five years on the trot in the 90's. Was it you got bored of the bikes or disliked them? I don't know if I would change a new bike every year. I find it interesting that some people are changing their bikes once or twice per year.
In the 90's I was single, a good job and plenty of bikes - plus I was just getting into roadbikes, having passed my test in 1992 - having come from a dirt bike competition background, so I bought a few bikes and changed my enduro bike every other year too
In the mid to late 90's I discovered the BMW R1100GS and virtually never looked back and bought a new one every two years, interspersed with a few roadbikes
As I mentioned I have a strong dirtbike background so fast roadbikes have never been my thing and thus why I didn't keep them long
Then, in 2005..............BMW stopped making my all-time fave bike - the 1150GS and in particular the 1150GS Adv, so I have had one from new in 2005 and it's a minter, like new (only comes out on sunny summer days) and I tried a 12GS Adv but disliked it, so sold it for another VGC 2005 1150GS Adv which is my 'hack' although some people think it's mint and has 39k on the clock now (bought in 2010 with 23k)
The crux is - I love the way the 1150GS Adv rides and looks so I don't need a new bike nowadays
I've always had a soft spot for the Honda XR250 and last year bought a 3000 mile 1998 minter which I winter or single track trailride with, now I've gone through it mechanically
The BMW XChallenge I've had from new and to me is the perfect 600c class dualsport midlleweight, it's the bike the BMW Dakar should have been and now it's spot on.
In 2013, I plan to take it to the Pyrenees and France to do some trails with and backroad touring, now that I've added some luggage
I have a Montesa (Honda) HRC works replica 4RT 4 stroke Trials bike, because they are aesthetically pleasing, superbly designed & built machines and through the winter I ride clubman o40's Trials competitions, when the GS roadbikes are off the road
I have no desire for a new bike, there is nothing to tempt me from what I've already got and although there's a fair bit of overlap in capability (I like that)
I think I now have the perfect garage for me and in reality the cost of all of them adds up to one new BMW 1200GS Adv, fully loaded with luggage - but I don't suffer any depreciation, so it's good

the 1921 Harley did go to Sammy Miller after I sold it about 20 years ago, the number was sold off it then the bike sold on to SM. An unwieldy beast (the Harley)not suited to British lanes.

Kawasaki Gpz305.. leaked oil
Kawasaki Gpz500... realised I didnt really like Kwacks !!
Honda CD200 Benly. Again awesome was skint and this bike got me everywhere without fault
Had another 9 years away from bikes but then in 2006
Yamaha Virago 535... bored me soon enough, but sounded good

Yamaha XT660R.. really good but sold to get a van to shift the XR around, pity
Honda Transalp 600.. sweet bike but old
Suzuki DRZ 400.. Bought it but didnt want to smash it up so kept XR an sold it
Honda Transalp 600... seemed a good idea, but didnt last long
Honda XR600.. seemed better idea than the Transalp, but didnt get on with it
Honda CB500... nice little bike, but sold it for good profit
KTM 450 EXC... beast
KTM250 2t... seemed a fun thing to do, but Im no enduro god and it was silly
Honda CB500.. another to get me buy but not for me
BMW 1150GS... Gave up off road, but it bored me quickly
Suzuki DR350... great bike if plain jane
Honda Transalp 600... No4, seemed to become my default bike
Yamaha Tenere 660 4MY.. old twin headlight.. had this and the transalp together and got annoyed with it as it was really good but so brittle so binned them both for
Now
Yamaha XT660Z Tenere... so far so good, its new but its stunning in every sense !!

I did not actually create the list for ABR but had been trying to correlate my digitised photos to my bikes for my own reference system in excel last year and just added the recent ones to it.
Only 4 or 5 a year on average
I tend to keep some bikes for years and others for just a few months.
Of course 30s to late 50s stuff was relatively cheap in the mid 60s to 80s. In 63 paid £10 for Vincent Comet and £10 in 68 for a 59 alloy Tiger 100, so easier to have 10 to 20 bikes in the garage/sheds then.
