Are ABR Rallies a thing of the past ?

The beauty of the bunkhouse meet is that places are limited due to the size of the venue. This keeps interest high, all the meets ive been to have been full. People know this of course so will pay up early to guarantee a spot.
If youre this kind of rider then chances are youll be turning up regardless of weather. This makes life easier as an organiser because you have a bunch of "can do" attitudes who'll ride whatever you put in front of them, safe in the knowledge that everyone will drag the the bike out of the bog if need be.
Hence you get the camaraderie, piss taking aplenty, loads of laughs and post event forum chat and a good uptake for the next one!

In the past people have tried to organise a French ABR meet it didn't get a lot of support from the ABR staff at the time so it never got done

ABR rallies are all about local members organising a meet then publicising it on this forum, myself and others are only too happy to help with that, but not to organise?

ABR rallies are all about local members organising a meet then publicising it on this forum, myself and others are only too happy to help with that, but not to organise?

Perhaps it's about a distinction between something like an Horisons/Overland Meet as they are financed, organised, and run by those parties themselves?

In contrast, and as you've indicated, the meetings on here are (usually) a self-organised meet between forum people rather than an "ABR Rally" as such?

Merely semantics perhaps........... (thumbs)

It wasn't you mate, there was myself and a guy called Britfrog who want to do an ABR rally in France we had very negative response from ABR. I will call and have a chat

Where as when I started to plan a Normandy event I got nothing but positive vibes from ABR crew and just a couple of negatives from forum members :unsure:

on this note anyone planing a weekend in November ?

i have got October covered with the ECKY THUMP and December with YULE TIDE .

theres some talk of running the camping weekend in Shropshire again in January

February theres a few of us off to the ELEPHANT .

March i am running the MALVERN again .

so its up to you folks theres things happening IF you want them ,,,, i myself are not worried if you come or not as we WILL have a good time as always ,

Not sure what the correct terminology would be "rally, meet" ?, I'm never sure which is what :whistle:

i prefer gathering to rally

just a point i invite a couple of different groups to my events ,,,,, last year the weather wasn't that good at the Ecky Thump ,,,,,, the ABR numbers were poor, BUT the Harley davidsons riders club had a good turnout and out numbered them ,
