Sorry to hear about this, I had two bikes stolen a while back, horrible feeling.

Appreciate it's too late now but for future ref make sure you delete the EXIF data on any photos you use when selling. The pics contain lat/long geo tag info and lets the scumbags know where you are.

Hello there I have absolutely no idea what this is or how to delete it but it sounds important, any chance you could explain further and perhaps walk through the method, consider me as a complete numpty in such things thanks.

Sure. Almost alll electronic images contain information that can be read out again, usually date, time, camera type and exposure. Most phones also store GPS co-ordinates which is usually useful to remind you whereabouts you were when you took the photo. If you use these images to sell a bike be sure to delete the GPS info as it can be pasted into google maps and two seconds on street view later you know where the bike is. On windows right click the image >properties>details>remove personal information >create a copy with properties removed. Or change the privacy settings and disable geotagging on your phone before you take the shots.

Mobile phones have morphed into tracking devices which log a wide range of your activity to create 'aggregated data' which is used by various government agencies and private companies to measure and potentially control your behaviour.

See the 'NHS Covid app'...used to log your location, who you had contact with, and send you a message to 'stay at home and save lives'. People got 'pinged' because their neighbours had covid and were sitting in the semi next door.

Some years ago there was outrage over plans to issue British citizens with ID cards...there's no need for that now as everyone is tracked anyway, and pays good money for the service.

Just wait for the 'cashless society' 'road pricing' and human microchipping. In New Zealand there are experiments going on with 'wireless fencing' for cows...their behaviour will be monitored by geolocation and controlled by automatically delivered stimuli to confine them to predefined areas of land, bring them in for milking etc. Only a matter of time before it starts for humans.

And, more critically, you will go nowhere without permission.

All the pics I post here are taken with a DLSR which I don't think does geolocation.

...if you use an iphone...go to...settings...then privacy...then location services...then camera...and set this to 'never'.

p.s. ...you will also be able to see in 'location services' some of the other apps on your phone that are tracking you and you can set them to 'never' as well. As a fail safe you can switch 'location services' to off, completely. But some things won't then work (like maybe the national lottery app, banking apps etc. that need to know where you are).
