When I chose the oem chain for my NC750S I looked at the mileage gained from the use of the original, .. 25,000 miles .. its original fit, and how it wore and deformed , and how it stretched or not. I was happy with all the factors and couldn't see why I shouldn't buy another, especially as the price was actually lower than [possibly dodgy] alternatives.

If you are happy with all the factors, especially the original mileage,.. then .. Good luck with your new purchase.

The bike has 12,000 miles on and the chain is definitely buggered but I have no idea how it has been look after by the previous owners. I presume it is the original chain that came when the bike was new in 2018. I think the bike was used as a commuter so maybe the owner might have over looked the chain maintenance. I hope the new Honda one will give me good mileage and I am the sort of person who will ensure the new running gear is looked after very well
Cheers

tbh, Rocky, I would expect more mileage than that ... but obviously a well maintained chain is going to last longer ... and if its genuine DID and from Honda, I would expect a good quality .

Just collected the chain and sprocket kit and the total cost was £126.

A popular choice is mt21 front, D606 rear.
Some great looking tyres out there now, for off road bias.

I got the mt21 rear and its good on tarmac, much better than irc, but not so grippy off road, I found, but tyre pressures are crucial of course. I not tried the mt21 front yet, but fitted OK, with reasonable effort. I'm hoping the mt21s ballance nicely on tarmac as I plan to ride fair distances to easy trails.

The D606 rear looks more aggressive than the mt21 rear
