EU border crossings are no problem to non existent (as in you ride aross the border and often you are hardly aware it is there).
Turkey which is not EU is different and although the border "terminal" from Bulgaria is newish it's all a bit of a palaver getting passport checked at one window, V5 at another then insurance, then back to the start to have all the paperwork checked again, then customs clearance - you get the idea!
It is just a warm up for when you hit the "'Stans" or Russia itself if you are going that far. Then you can easily set aside most of the day to get out of one and into the other. Insurance east of Turkey can be considered a tourist tax and not much else!
Photo (if it downloaded!) is beginning of the 7 hour wait to get out of Mongolia and into Russia...
