ill be ridin shaley tracks mostly with a bit of mud but not deep

I know it horses for courses but the more user input I get the better decision I should make so any info is worth its weight

to be honest there is a very steep shale track near me with a green lane on my xt I can piss it, on the gs I have only managed to get halfway on road bias tyres ( just cant get traction) Karoo's or wilds are front runners at the moment with trail riders a strong possibility

just on the flip side, what are peps opinion 70/30 bias on the off road side. I have a spare set of wheels for my watercooled gs and was thinking off putting something a lot more dirt than tarmac

Well you're asking the right group of people that question, normally when people ask for a road tyre on this forum they get pages and pages of recommendations for off road tyres.

The Anakee wild is better off road tyre than the Karoo there a better road tyre as well in my Opinion

You did say that you want 70/30 wich don't really exist if you ask me, once you get the Wilds scrubbed in good and proper they stick like shit to a blanket on the road

Now you are asking about Avon Trail Riders I have them on at the moment excellent ROAD tyre IMOH but not a trail tyre there more like a bloody good alternative to the Original Tourance

TKC 80s also have the Rufty tufty look that some people want but there not a patch on the Wilds I even got me Knee down on the Wilds. But there not a Motorway muncher the Avon's are

Anakee Wilds

If I am being honest the Wilds are a compromised road tyre that does a bit of dirt A bit like a GS

Supposedly a 50/50 but more like 70/30 road biased.

I love em. Was out on them today and they have been great on the road. Done a little green laning and they were far better than the Tourances they replaced.

Firstly thank you all for your advice Re: tyres

after much deliberation i went and bought a set of anakee wilds

now i have NEVER really ridden off road so did not know what to expect...... WOW!

first took bike out, they tracked awful, felt heavy on the steering, pulled to one side and felt like i was riding on marbles, it was one of those "what have i done moments"

but then they started to settle down, the road noise went up a little but not massively and they felt more positive in the corners, they now track fine and corner ( for a knobbly) great ,(not sports bike )

so this morning i decided to try them in the rough stuff, there is a lane near me narrow muddy, rutty, rocky, and steep its about a mile lone so i decided to give it a go, excepting the fact that i might have to be buying replacement parts that i had damaged tomorrow.
so hear we go took first part (50m) slowly feeling the bite ( on this part i could not get traction with dual sport tyres ) the wilds gripped and inspired confidence straight away so basically i gave it some and it soon turned into one of those "i'm coming off,,,no i'm not.....i'm coming off.......no i'm not" sort of rides the front tyre i had expected to lose so many times but it held firm

in short these tyres impress the hell out of me, massive smile on my face, and a new avenue of biking to go down, thanks to you all, Rederic it was your post that swayed me cheers buddy you weren't wrong :)

dont forget tyre pressures ,and a good easy method of inflating again them when you hit the tarmac.............it makes all the difference off road and is often overlooked
i use co2 and an adaptor !!!! easy

oh and the avons are awefull things !!!!!!!
