Lot's can be done with careful use of a mobile phone camera or compact camera, though starry nights and the Milky Way aren't going to be easy due to sensor noise inherent with physically small sensors, I use my Samsung K-Zoom a lot, fantastic tool

Great bit of photography that. I have never seen the milky way and have been meaning to get to some un light polluted area for a while now.

Would have been even better if a comet had streaked across the sky in that 30 seconds.
