Last time this topic came up, I proffered my positive experiences of using seamless cotton boxer shorts during a long excursion in Morocco. Things changed last year when riding a bike with more wind protection (F800GS v XT660R in Morocco) in 35 temps on the way to and from Turkey - I suffered badly. I guess as I was sitting a lot more and shielded by any breeze, no air could evaporate the sweat.

Learning from that experience.... this year, I took 2 pairs of Icebreaker merino boxer shorts to Mongolia - what a revelation! Highly recommended. They wick sweat incredibly well (tested many times ski-touring), pack smaller than cotton versions, dry fast when washed, and don't stink when not plus seamless - what's not to like (thumbs)

Downsides - cost. Although, if you look at the price while in your current state of pain, it won't seem so bad hmy:

Oh and if your kevlar jeans are anything like my kevlar cargo [strike]pants[/strike] trousers (corrected for the Brits) - nothing, aside from a car with airconditioning, would have helped while wearing them! :whistle:

I use Decathlon running underwear - cheap - well made - wicks sweat away - can be washed easily and dries in an hour at room temps... just packing four pairs, plus one on, for two weeks away as they are so easy to launder on the go.

Supermarket soft cotton trunks. 3 pairs a tenner.
Work perfect for me. Especially if washed a couple of times before the off.

+1 for underarmour gear,done many a thousand miles wearing it no problem with chafing easy to wash dries quick. (thumbs)

This is what I was wearing, fairly snug fitting, but once sweaty they rode up, creased up, rode up, and became like sitting on pieces of nylon rope.

I use merino long johns no matter how warm it is because they wick any sweat away and also make it easier to get my bike trousers off. Those Kevlar bike jeans are great until it gets above about 20c when I find my legs start to sweat because the jeans have no air vents and from then on they're uncomfortable if I have to slow to below about 60mph.

For warmer climates I use long leg (thinner) UA heatgear leggings under mesh textile trousers. As there's a risk of getting your legs sunburnt
