My brother has it bad..he lives in the south of France and they drink pomegranate..think that's how it's spelt..juice. The French doc says it has something in it that really helps.
But..stay away from beer and white wine and shell fish as they make it really bad.

And the beast shall be huge and black, and the eyes thereof red with the blood of living creatures, and the whore of Babylon shall ride forth on a three-headed serpent, and throughout the lands, there'll be a great rubbing of parts
Re: Gout demon
Forget about cutting out specific foods until you work out what triggers your attacks. Gout is bought on by something called purines in food. Just about everything you eat contains purines! From alcohol to fruit juice, red meat to shell fish and many fruits and vegetables. Unless you are really unlucky only a few of these will affect you. The main thing is to keep hydrated as dehydration will increase the concentration of uric acid in your blood and trigger an attack.
I've suffered for nearly 30 years, take allopurinol daily and Naproxen if I get an attack. I still drink and eat pretty much what I like, except red berries (strawberrys, raspberrys, etc although black cherries are a good preventative and cure) and generally only get a bout if I've not drunk enough water.

Re: Gout demon
Interesting topic! As a long sufferer, over twenty years, the bouts were getting more frequent in recent years. So I gave up and started taking allopurinol, which reduced the worst attacks, but still suffered, so I am now on the max dose in UK. I have had no attacks, but my big toe area on one foot is now permanently mis-shapen and gives me low level pain. At their worst, I could not even put a shoe on, drive, etc. I tried all sorts to control it naturally, none of it worked for me. I drink lots of water, which may help. However, I never get through the night without a visit to the loo! The pleasure of getting older, I suppose
