No one nods in London sadly, so I'm not really in the habit. So apologies to the first two bikers I see who nod at me once I'm out of town. It takes me that long to work out what's going on.

i don't nod usually, i will if someone nods at me, i don't think it means that much really....i'll still stop if i can if i see someone at the side of the road though...to see if they need a hand

It doesn't cost me owt so I nod. I've been nodding to a guy on the A17 just about every day for the past couple of years - nothing yet but I figure I'm wearing him down! (thumbs)

If it's got 2 wheels and a motor or 3 wheels and it's not a Reliant then a nod or a wave work wonders, I've never waved me legs at anyone though - must try that hmy: . If they look broken down at the side of the road then I stop and see if they need help - good Karma

Ones less likely to return a cheery wave are Harley riders and Power Rangers.

I make a point of waving at Learners on mopeds, after all they are the future of motorcycling are they not? Thinking back 35+ years when I felt like cheese when some "real" biker waved at me on my Puch 50 and I couldn't wait for the day when I could own a Z900, CB750 Four or GT750- even the Z200 was biker porn to me seeing as I saved up my Sunday paper round to get the £60 for my Grand Prix! feck those Sunday Times and Observers were heavy-no wonder my shoulder is shot .

I nod no matter what I'm riding, the two things I've notice is, Cruisers never nod back ( went passed a HDOC going the other way, there must of been 30-40 riders, so started nodding, thinking one of them will nod back, Nope :pinch: ) , and if your on a dirt bike no one nods, or that may just be me.... :laugh:

Well I'm down on the Mar Menor near Cartagena at the moment (currently lying on a sunbed drinking Estrella) having ridden down a week ago on the Versys 1000 with the missus (aka HQ) on the back. In all that way I have had only two bikers respond to the normal 'salute' in these parts which is the two fingers held out.

Now either it's too fecking hot to bother with such niceties or I'm doing it wrong! Off to Valencia tomorrow to see if my luck changes. :laugh:

Er, Is giving the finger whilst going past plastic rockets on the inside line on a roundabout an acceptable greeting. :laugh:

i put a post the same as this last year and i agree people don't seem to nod back,in scotland i have found you are more likely to get a response but you get the had up i always try to respond when its safe to do so.you dont seem to get that in the north west where i live,they must be better at riding with one hand in scotland.in spain everybody lets on it gets a bit dodgy when your doing a tight left hander.in my post some one said if we dont let on to other bikers we are just traffic i thought that sums it up.cheers tony

Always nod and smile or wave (thumbs) , but noticed its not what the other rider is on but what your on. Nearly always acknowledged when on the XJR but hardly ever when I'm on the 90 or XL..Even from riders on simalar pathetic machinary.. hmy:

I nod at almost everything on two wheels. Even cyclists that are touring (not the Sunday road block mob though).

I feel a bit sad too if I do not get a response and I always wave as opposed to nod. I mostly get a reply but feel when it does not come back that we have had the best days of Brit biking and the future does not look good.

It is a bit different in the US and Europe as they have a free hand on your side to wave/fingers or whatever. If I am being overtaken (UK) I stick my leg out so I don't take my hand off the throttle.

In South America, even the cars waved.....
