Lovely looking DR Lewie!

My DR is a well-used and not very shiny battery-less kicker:

With some tweaks runs like an absolute champ

Its not the "best" bike I've had by a long way but I love it - it just does everything I need it do and does it with great enthusiasm!

I'm also a big fan of the DRZ having had a few - more power and suspension comes with being heavier and taller, but cast in the same mould as the DR in that they will do anything (within reason) and built to last without too much spannering needed.

Brenhden- what litre tank is that on your dr? Was it on there when u had it? Only wondering how the bigger tank full of fuel would feel weight wise on the bike, I think mine is 9 or 11 litre

Cheers
My tank qas on there when I got it. Actually I was looking for a long range fuel tank for my klx on ebay when I spotted the DR (who is called Bink). It was local so I just bought the bike unseen on a whim!

Starting tomorrow I'm going to test the range by running it out of fuel. I got a fuel freind from on here to top it up.

If your Sherpa is too low maybe my klx could suit you. Its mint and has upgrades.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Here's mine which looks nothing like that at the moment. Acerbis fuel tank is having a heat shield put on the bottom and all fuel pipes are being covered in heat resistant covers I bottled it when I saw how close the right fuel cock was to the exhaust.
Suspension away being serviced, new head races, new pads and fluids, engine serviced and oil changed, shock spring being painted and linkage being sorted as it was seized.
rear pads and brake fluid changed. Seat re foamed. rack and pannier rack being put on all getting ready for a trip to the Pyrenees (thumbs)

cost of bike £500, spent so far about £600 ish B)

cheers Spud ;)
