+1 on the Exped Downmat pump 7 or 9 DLX.
Just got two of the 9DLX for wife and I.
I was about to test it and there I fell asleep on it and a whole afternoon wasted testing it.
:P

Downmat is natural goose stuff inside.
Synmat is synthetic.
Pump means integrated handpump.
7 or 9 refers to how thick it is.
DLX means deluxe and will give you more length and more width.

Let me recommend our tent here as well.
Nomad Ténéré Expedition Tent.

+1 on the Exped. :) Used it on a tour last year. Packs small, self contained pump, and comfy for the night.

the bike's more important. (wait for the frying pan round the back of the head)

the matress arguement is one of those that will rage for evermore.......

personally, +1 on the airbed. i just use a cheap single box sided thing from argos. it takes up some space, its heavy, and could puncture, although it comes with a repair kit, and gives me a stroke when i blow it up but i have got a little 12v pump now that looks like a miniature version of mums old raygun hairdryer in the seventies. but for me its great, i hate sleeping on my back and i hate mummy bags so need supporting off the ground

No you don't need to spend that sort of cash. We're still working on the mats review so this is no indication of the top buy but the Vango Adventure DLX Mat at £29 will be reasonably comfy. Plus it comes with a repair kit, something I'd recommend for Morocco, I've punctured a couple of mats out there over the years.
