Re: Scottish camping weekend in January
Are they really demolishing Savs house up at Achtriochan? Surely not. That was Hamish McInness's house too.

Camping on the Clachaig flats was banned years ago and I don't think the Red Squirrel site allows open fires so it's a bit of a non-starter.Shotgun wrote:Why not think big and start a Scottish style Elephanttreffen? The Clachaig would be fine.
Why not just go to the Elefantentreffen or the Dragon if you want somewhere closer to home?

Hi Andy thanks for your interest the red squirrel
Does allow camp fires so that's where we will be camping
And going to the clachaig for some refreshments so are we back
At the start again ..
Cheers

Re: Scottish camping weekend in January
I'm happy to be corrected on that one. I've been shouted at by the owner of the site for having a fire there but that may have been because it was a rather large one and it was his trees we were burning at the time. I always found that the biggest problem with the Red Squirrel was the water pipes freezing solid and the slope down into the campsite being covered in ice but that's only a problem if you're allergic to yellow snow or want to get out of the site :whistle:Bianchi wrote:Hi Andy thanks for your interest the red squirrel

The red squirrel allows fires - and actually has some great spots close to the river - and at various spots throughout the site

Hi all not trying to start a winter rally just I always try and
Get some winter camping done and just thought some like minded
Abr riders would like to join in
The hotel has a band playing most Saturday nights and the food is great
As well maybe go for a wee ride on the Saturday then back to the hotel
Or a campfire weather depending
Not expecting big numbers but all welcome if your up for it
Great but if not no big deal
Cheers
