Spoke to them today and they're hoping to be back in action on Thursday...... Fingers crossed!

We took our bikes to Portugal, using the Santader ferry. Imagine how we felt when we received the text from BF 'Please make your way to Calais'

Not the end of the world unless;

(1) Calais is over 1,000 miles from where we were :S
(2) We were on 125cc Suzuki VanVans :blink:
(3) It was our Honeymoon :pinch:

2 days from Calais and a 100 miles north of Malaga. Not bad going

Going down to Malaga next month - can you recommend any good roads ??
We'll be going via Perpignan, so down the East side of Spain

Make your way to Dunkirk and wait for the navy to come and lift you off the beach.

No pushing chaps, room for everyone on my little boat, just may have to make more than one trip!

last night the ferry company said NO new bookings for rest of month so no sailings..and October has bookings but NO promise of sailings...

To be honest oct,nov is there quite months and there are rumours they will impose a months unpaid leave...

I'd look for calais as prices will rocket for sure..

Plus side..its nice and quite down pompy docks...

It's best to avoid the Barcelona connurbation before you cross into Spain. From Perpigna itself you have two good options: to Ripoll via camprodon and Prats de Mollo and to Puigcerda via Prades.

The former crosses the Pyrenees well before they get high, so the weather is a tad more reliable. The latter is more dramatic, but takes you onto the Cerdanya region, which is difficult to get out of on good roads.

In both cases ypou still have to make more westing to avoid Barcelona and its environs and to avoid some dreadful roads, especially the C14.

More details if you can tell me where you are starting from. But in the meantime take a look at this for the rest of yur route, the point being to avoid the coast and ride along the landward sode of the coastal 'littoral' montains. But remember that once on the landward side you will have a continental climate to live with, bloody cold at night!
