Maybe 100hp is too much for it to take?

Having said that I've not heard anything else bad about it and will be purchasing one soon to try along with a Mitas E10 front for my 950 Adventure.... Fingers crossed
The beads and sidewalls are very stiff as we all well know and I can imagine problems getting a seal on a tubeless rim, but I'm surprised on a tubed rim. My GS puts out just over a 100hp and I haven't noticed the tyre move on the rim, and I would because I lined the dots when I fitted them ;)
That is my only concern in running lowered pressures, the tyre moving on the rim.
Finally back on a GS :D

hi all..

ACP- mt21 rallycross would be fine up front but under heavy braking due to the space between the knobs :woohoo: it gets scary and plenty flexing and increased "ski jump" forming...but just turn tyre round.

The mitas E09 would be better if you ride heavy on the roads but I dont use the front brake much just let the V-twin slow things down  .

As for "cutting out the blocks" it was done to use the tyre for what I want rather than throw money away..I`d not buy a new one and do that but buy a more suitable tyre aka Mitas E09..but it dont make any difference on the road no flexing or bad wear...

So I think heidenau put the center band in as the tyres [scouts] have a higher softer compound than the old k60 ..to increase long life with the heavy bikes aka gs in 150 profile..why o why they changed the 140 we will never no as it was a totally brilliant tyre..but I have [2] part worn to play with so I happy.

So... I'm about to fit these beasties (myself) to my rear wheel.

Question, how do I balance them or do I even need to?

I have some TPS tyre sealant stuff in the tube which claims it has some sort of balancing characteristics

Cheers, Andy :)

For balancing line up the dots before fitting, it will be fairly close, get some extra muscle when fitting though.

OK found the dots. Line up with the valve right?

It's a 150 Tramp. On the front is a Mitas E-10. Curiously doesn't have any dots. Fitted last night.

And PM'd back B)

My 150 arrived in the post today :)

Will get round to fitting it in a day or two ... With those stiff sidewalls it should be interesting, as this will be the first time I'll try to fit a tyre myself :pinch:

Just bought a BeadBrakR so might as well try. Worst that can happen is I sear a lot and give up, throw it in the car and go to the local fitter

I always find the hardest bit is after braking the bead...getting the first bit over the rim...so now I compress the bottom bit into the wheel base to give the top some more room to play ...you`ll see what I mean.

And as long as the new tyre is warm and plenty lube used the last bit should go over easier.

if we here a "bloody curdling scream" :woohoo: we know it aint going well...

And ALWAYS double/tripple check well rotation direction on tyre before fitting..one reason I like non directional tyres

Well, my new Heidi is on the rim :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Jeez, they are some stiff muthas... Much swearing was heard emanating from my garage this eve!

One thing I'd say Vindaloo is if you like nice, smart, un-scratched rims, get a pro to do it! Mine are now scratched to buggery :(

This is the method I use to break the bead on an old Scorpion >>>

Let us know how you get on with the BeadBrakR. I've been considering how I'd do it on the trail. Maybe I could squeeze a Freelander and a fence post under my seat

That's where we pros make the difference. Fitting a tyre is easy, not marking the wheel is where the skill is.

Well done for having a go mate. Have a greenie to soften the blow. ;)
