What's people's opinion of Temu. ??

I ordered a few items a while back, but then stopped as i didn't trust the Chinese connection. Prices too low? Delivery too long? Spying? Raiding your bank? etc.
But recently, I orderd a few accessories .. er .. useful items ... er .. ok .. it was a tent .. (I've only got 10, just like you lot, lol.)

So, do you reckon its safe etc ??

Temu seems okay for most parts. You do need to exercise a common sense in purchasing there. Personally I don't use it. I gave up on purchases from China few years ago. Mostly because of long shipping times. Amazon has most of the same parts for not that much more and next day delivery.

Id never heard of it till this...then coincidentally today in a flying forum I frequent there is a bot spamming Temu offers with coupon codes

It's fine. And can be massively cheaper if you don't mind the long shipping times.

Similar to AliExpress. They both essentially skip the middle man, and you order directly from the Chinese manufacturer. I.e, the products you see multiple times with different random names on Amazon and eBay (and Etsy etc) are usually from one of these.

AE allows drop-shipping so when you order from a middle man the item can come directly from there and never go through the middle man, Temu is manufacturer to consumer (kind of like Lomo do).

Once my cheap tent arrives, I will delete temu, again, as there's too many pop-ups, offers, free gifts u got to pay for .. instead of just looking and ordering. You are bombarded, on their site.
When the stuff, eventually, arrives, it is mostly crap.
Usually half scale, too.

Just one more thing.
What appears to be deliberately misleading the customer got really bad during Covid. I've seen questionable descriptions on Temu, but it's not only the Chinese sites. Always read the description carefully, and look for what isn't there. If in doubt post a question on the site (if you can). Never assume anything.
Like for an item where most of the photos show two items. Then only one item arrives. When you go back and look, the text doesn't state anywhere how many items are in the package.
Like when you select size of T-Shirt you usually use (let's say "L"). When it arrives it's way too small. When you look back at the site it doesn't state anywhere how big "L" is.
Like the photo shows a hand holding the item, and it fills the hand. When it arrives you see that you could hold ten of the items in your hand. When you look at the site there are no dimensions.
And fake products like attached.

I've used Aliexpress a lot and had no issues, I don't think I'd buy electronics from them due to the issues with returning faulty goods.

I've bought all of the parts for my Voge but then it's Chinese so they're OEM really

I won't use Temu, the website is a joke, it's very difficult to find anything and you get bombarded with pop ups etc.

Shit, stay away.
Products may arrive as described and work, but there is NO quality control.
So you don't actually know what you are getting.
Do the plastics contain phthalates, heavy metals in paint, too much cadmium etc, etc etc?

A consumer organisation here in Norway ordered some typical/ popular items off Temu and tested them.
Not one item passed current consumer product standards, mainly due to the hidden issues mentioned above.
One piece of jewellery had over 200 times the legal limit of cadmium, which can result in serious health issues.

gosh .. my [tent] parcel arrived overland, in Kazakhstan just a few days ago, and will soon arrive at the EU border.
.. and I only oredered it just before Christmas.
The speed is unnerving.

The pop-ups and texts and offers and mayhem continue to intrude and annoy.
It's so wonderful to be valued.
