F700GS Rear Brake Problem
F700GS Rear Brake Problem
Hello again i was Having a Problem with my Rear Brake , Pedal pushed down as far as it would go and no Braking. I removed the Rear Wheel and lifted out the Caliper it was Seized solid , The Brake pads seem to be Brand new So i removed the Pads and cleaned around the Piston and pumped out the Piston ( Not all the way out) And lubed it up Cleaned off any excess Refitted the Pads Put everything back together and it was 100% Better. I went on a 190 Mile run today and used the Rear Brake a few times ( Normally only use the Front Brake ) and Downshifting and it was Much better than Before. There is still a lot of travel on the Pedal My Question is the Rear Brake Pedal on Splines and can be Moved up Like you would do with the Gear Shifter or it is Set and cannot be moved. Any info would be Great .Cheers Francis
Re: F700GS Rear Brake Problem
You did clean the rubbers and the slider too also the pins that hold pans in place...you can adjust most rear brake pedals under the brake pedal reservoir..should be 2 nuts one is a locknut on threaded bar...also check fluid level...I'd be giving brakes a fluid clean ...

Re: F700GS Rear Brake Problem
Francis,
As good as the Brembos are on these machines, they do need some TLC, as you have now discovered
The rear brake pedal is not on a splined shaft. The only adjustment is via the push rod into the brake cylinder and there isn't much of that.
Just make sure that the brake light switch is still effective after you make any adjustments to the link rod - there isn't much movement from the off position to the on poisition on the switch.
