I'm planning to go smaller this year so this mile muncher is for sale. MOT until May, panniers , rear rack, and a cut down spare pillion seat with hoops for roll bag carriage. New oils, filter, fuel filter, hall effect plate, alt. Belt, starter motor, battery, nearly new injectors. ABS, heated grips and hazard flashers all work. HID headlight conversion, good tyres and pads. In regular use. Speedo cable replaced, but only lost about 60 miles. Span adjustable levers and "bar back" add ons from Germany to give a more upright riding position (easily changed back to standard with some cable re-routing.). I'm in south Lincs. pm me for more info and pics. I'm asking 1k, but no offers below that please. For some reason I can't add images easily so pm me with an e-mail address and I'll send some over.

Isn't that the one you brought to France in September when we were in St Leon?

If it is, for anyone reading this post, it's an awesome bike and the photos don't do it justice. I would have thought that was a £2k bike and its ready to go.

That's one to buy unseen.

Thanks Olaf. Indeed it is--hence the hall effect change due to dodgy wiring--apparently a known problem on the early oilheads. I'm not greedy!---just a reasonable return---Actually went out for a 20 mile or so run on it yesterday and it was below 2C--just to check the brakes after repositioning a hose. It lives under cover outside (dry , but good ventilation), so it was a good start test ! As I said I'm now of that sort of age that something a little smaller and lighter is on the cards---should never have sold my 600 Transalp! However, I still have the WR250R and that will do a trip as you know.

I feel tempted to buy it myself....but having done that with another BMW last March I am going to give it a rest.

As an incentive for the WR250R.....since it likes that trip..... I have booked St Leon for September, down there 6-27 September in the usual place. I may stay a bit longer as the Rocamdour Hot Air Balloon festival is 27-29th.

There is a thread up here for ABR Ireland weekend 26-28 April and Will and myself have signed up for it and I am working on getting some more into it. You would enjoy the location too, down near Glengarriffe. Have a google for Healy Pass- its very close to the location and the WR would love it. There are also some very nice roads inside the Ring of Kerry next to it, as opposed to doing the tourist Ring of Kerry itself. I have no doubt some of these will end up on the rideout.

Some nice non motorway routes down from Dublin ferryport that I travelled on the CD175 and found very enjoyable.

Thanks Olaf for the info. I may do the Bol D'or with Karl during sept so we'll see how it pans out. The WR is really a trail bike so good for a trip where there are trails on the way or at the destination. I'm still thinking of a more road oriented middleweight for the longer trips.

I even replaced the calipers and the master cylinder piston assembly to sort the brakes out before sale--something that I should have done some time ago---I think its gone to a good home. I'm now looking for a BMW F800 GT with full luggage etc--a bit lighter to wheel about and with a more relaxed riding position. Same power , less torque (but better fuel consumption). With all the bells and whistles on the GT its well equipped. Things like a centre stand etc which is rare as standard these days--adding a stand, a rear rack and full luggage gets expensive ! The belts should do 24k-35k minimum, but are expensive---but at least no sprockets to change or chains to lube, so it probably balances out. The engine is also pretty well tested with lots out there.
