That's precisely why I haven't bought a CRF1000/1100L (I can't call it an Africa Twin because it isn't imo). I was eagerly excited when Big H first gave news of a new AT back in 2013 and was sure I would get one, having owned an original XRV AT for 11 years. But for me it was a disappointment - bigger and much heavier than the XRV, and the mechanical/electronic complications have snowballed. That's fine if you want a to do a bit of first world touring, and there's nothing wrong with that. I ended up buying a T7, which I thought was more what a new AT should have been. But for me nothing beats the original XRV as a relatively simple, all-roads capable 'adventure' motorcycle which has no need of 'assistance'
