Love the colours. Do you remember the cover of Which Bike magazine - about 2004 - where good old Chris Dabbs ragged an FJ1100 knee down ? Back then Yamaha marketed the FJ as a pure sports bike, up against the GPZ900R etc. It didn't take long for buyers to realise it was far more of a tourer. But Chris still mashed the thing into every corner on test, determined to get that shot. Love 'im.
Think you mean 1984 Dave ?
Yes I remember those knee down shots. Think they used the roundabout under the A3 at Esher for a lot of them.
He was an ex courier for the firm that I rode for . Sadly it didn't end well for him, I recall he went to work at MCN but then had an accident and ended up paralysed.

That's right. I think he still does a mechanical advice Q & A thing for MCN, or at least he did for many years. EMAP looked after him well, I don't know about the new owners.

IIRC, pre-accident he once went on an overseas press launch and realised in horror as he waited to check in on the outbound flight that the passport he was holding was his sister's!
He got out and back without a problem (little bloke, fresh-faced and blonde hair)!

Is that 'brown trousers' route Bob? I seem to remember that slippery climb leading to the wall of doom at the steps :o
It certainly is

We came down it that day which is slightly easier , it's a bit contentious nowadays but I'd still ride it.

I rode it on my first ever trf weekend which was only my third time offroad, needless to say I failed the wall of doom in spectacular fashion
