I haven't ridden a bike in months

Post by Mad Hatter »

I haven't had a bike trip since the last dragon which was definitely an adventure and I haven't ridden a motorcycle since June I think it was, could've been July actually.

But what I have been doing is discovering new things and rediscovering old things as well. I've been walking dogs, shooting air rifles, taking photos and learning to cook more than just pasta among a host of other socially distant things.

So here's a roast pheasant dinner that I couldn't resist getting some fancy photo's of. Anyone else been up to new or old things?

Yeah, both my bikes are sorn, I moved in October and rode one of the bikes to the new house and since then they've been locked away.

I'm focussing now on making stuff out of scrap wood. I've made a wood store, some decorative owls, and resized some furniture as the new gaff is smaller. Alas my workshop is also my garage and the bikes are now a pain in the @ss as I have to wheel them out the way all the time.

I'm going to sell them both I think and buy a CB500X. When all this is over I'll need a better commuter and I want to travel a really long way from here.

And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Built a few Ebikes from some old ally bikes I had, opened up loads of local trails.
Not been out on the motorbikes for a while.

Last time I used my bike was on the 2019 Overland event, then garaged for the winter, then lockdown.

I wheeled it out of the garage for the CCM mobile guy to service it in May, then back in the garage.

MoT ran out and now waiting for some weather improvement to get the MoT done before the tax runs out in May

Must admit lockdown has put a big damper on my enthusiasm. Haven’t been to any rallies, haven't visited my 80 year old sister since before the start of the first lockdown, and I am a year older.

I only have one motorbike now .. NC750s dct ... obviously not ridden it much ... a few months ago i did my mid wales then aberaeron run .. wound it up a bit, was shocked at the limits of the bike, struggled braking and accelerating , but it great for economy and pootling .. fancying a bigger bike, but will last out on this one, for cost reasons ...... a few weeks ago, on an extended tesco run, i noticed a whining whirring sound from the engine .. afraid to investigate .. its just sat there mostly anyway ... it had an oil change, including clutch oil filter, hope the mechanic put it in the right way, that's why i am afraid to look. as i dont want to fall out with him, as took a long time to find a good mechanic ... i suppose it is only money, anyway, to put right doh.

Also been doing some work in the communal garden where i got my oap flat, lol, as my daughter has a new boyfriend and it feels like i been banned from her house now, doh lol ... but i am happy for her .... so i have done my bike tent tarps, and now pressure washed the paving slabs, looks so much better from out of my window, and fixed the wooden rear scheme door, as it was falling apart .. I enjoyed that, using old skills again is cathartic like innit.

That's great Bren. In fact I can honestly say it's the best scrap wood decorative owl I've seen all morning.
