Modern bikes ??

I remember the joys of cable disc brakes on the CB200s that I owned, they used to seize on the pivot arm until I dismantled them and put a grease nipple in. The mini fireworks display between the HT leads on the GS Suzukis always livened up your ride home on a wet winters day. These were known faults amongst those who owned these bikes and I suppose nowadays would have been posted on Internet forums and sorted b6 most owners before they became a problem.

sure some of the new stuff is over complicated ...but a lot isnt ....

do i really want to go back to cable opertaed disk brakes contact breaker points and yokahama tyres surpresserr caps that elecricute yer legs and stop the bike in motorway spay ......

We used to call those tyres 'whispering death'...
Cable disc-brakes CB200...never got mine to work. Worse than the front brake on a 1958 BSA C15.

I had two CB200s great little bikes. I rode from South London to East Kilbride and back in one weekend on mine, stopping on the way to pick up a friend in Chester. Although he decided to get the train back, as being 6’2” he found the pillion uncomfortable. I got stopped for speeding on the motorway in Scotland, the copper insisted I was doing 85 I told him that would be a new world record for a CB200. In the end he let me off.
Unfortunately somehow these bikes have now acquired classic status but if anyone knows of one for sale for the price I paid for mine (one was fifty quid the other fifty five with a spare engine) I would be interested.

the engines were great...my front brake never worked properly (even after the ministrations of a 5* Honda mechanic) and the shocks ejaculated what smelled like whale oil all over the back tyre.

Haha.... likewise, I got clocked on the M25 for doing 105mph on my CB550 in December '80. Made my day that it could officially do over the ton sitting bolt upright. But, the price paid was a three month ban and a fine; the magistrates were obviously not impressed!

Back on topic, I thought my days of new bike buying were well & truly over quite a few years ago.... until the T7 came along on all its simplicity. But in spite of being largely tech-free, something as simple as unplugging the TPS (to fit a vacuum tube) and then reconnecting it sets the management alarm light off, meaning an annoying trip to the dealer to get the light reset. I suppose I'll have to get a code reader thing to deal with such issues
