I was advised that air cooled engines run rich to help with cooling and once I removed the pair valve I would see a black exhaust as if it had a carb, I'm sure mine is similar.... Or it could be oil blow by from doing 82mph with a 42t rear sprocket like a proper mad lad!

my solution is a seat screw that can be opened with a coin anywhere anytime:

So I had my tank off to replace my clutch cable as the bottom nipple sheared off
While it was sitting on my garage floor it left a rather large puddle of unleaded . I would have thought once disconnected it shouldn't leak as there will be a vacuum type valve in there.
If there is indeed a dodgy vacuum valve in the fuel pump could this be adding to my fueling problems?
While the tank was off I drilled out the two wee breather holes to 3mm which allowed me to leave the brass cup and bearing in place. Today I was revving the bike well into the top end of the range without any cutting out so fingers crossed that's one problem sorted. It did cut out a number of times while pulling up to junctions though

Apologies I've been meaning to post a photo of my exhaust insert which is on its way to becoming quite black, I've only had the insert in for a few rides and initially mine was running to lean or at least I believe it was.

I too suffered with cutting out pulling up to junctions and I think raising the tickover helped, I've got a spare grub screw if you want it?

As for the pool of unleaded mine does that too, if I don't plug the end of the outlet it just leaks fuel.

I'll try that and thanks for the offer but I've probably got something kicking about the garage I can use.

As for the pool of unleaded mine does that too, if I don't plug the end of the outlet it just leaks fuel.

Good to know it's not just my bike does it, does make me wonder if it's a common fault and could be partially affecting the fueling, causing the stalls at slow speed
