Lake Como anyone...? https://www.lakecomohostel.com/index.php

Post by Italy1 »

stumbled across this place one very latte night when the weather was not minded to let us camp...…..https://www.lakecomohostel.com/index.php

Probbably the very best location right on the shores of Lake Como on the westernn side. The place is clean, the foood is excellent and the bar is open late and cheap.
We were three 50 years old but age doesn't seeem to be much of a concern. The place is run by a couple of bike enthusiasts and they will go the extra mile to accommodate like minded people.

I would give them 10 out of 10 money for value ........

Ciao Tony,
we stayed in a place similar to that about 5 years ago. Like you say, right on the lake, we all went for a dip of course :D The Italians didn't quite know what to make of our shenanigans as they carried me down to the lake and chucked me in so I could have a swim (it's not good to swim with your prosthetic leg on).

Plus we found some trails up the hills and went to visit the Guzzi factory, it was a great place to stay 8-)

Thanks for that Bob, a group of four of us are heading there, via the Dolomites, in early September. I'll keep them in mind, as we don't know within a day or so when we'll get there. We are a disparate group, one 1200 GS, two Honda NCX's and one CRF250 Rally (me). Our aim is to travel less than two hundred miles a day, enjoy the scenery, the catering and the excellent wine (in moderation)
We plan to be away for two weeks, but that could become closer to three...... retirement means tough choices

Thanks for the heads-up on this place..... we turned up this pm and they had a double room with en-suite free. Great value for 66 Euros incl. breakfast, about a third the cost of a 'proper' hotel around here ☺ We had to make the bed up and there's a hole or two in the sheets, but it's clean & friendly so no problem. Coincidentally, there's a brit couple on a FJR1300 next door to us.
