Do you clean

Re: Do you clean
I clean my bikes regularly, not every run but after a run in the rain or after a long trip. The Tiger's been cleaned this week but it was down at Oban and came home in the rain so it looked grotty. I'd rather folk look at my bike and say "that's a well looked after, tidy example" rather than "that's a pile of shite"!
Saying that,,,
Ickle Beemer gets a clean when I can't see the number plate any more!
I didn't buy my bikes as an investment but I didn't buy a pile of crap either, I bought a brand new bike and if giving it a wash can maintain that finish then so be it. Also gives me a chance to check the bike over for wear or faults. Each to their own, but I keep my bikes, van, Landrover and house clean and tidy, nothing wrong with that, next to Godliness they say. And it highlights I'm not a pikey! LOL!

Re: Do you clean
Ater every outing my bike gets a clean then polish.
I like a nice clean bike. It does get used too! Did the Stella this year and been to europe twice after that. I do take my cleaning stuff with me though. Also makes it easier to spot any potential problems with any leaks starting etc.... Also check my tyre pressures before it goes anywhere too.
Re: Do you clean
I paid £1400 for my ol'carbadero, it got washed and polished a couple of days after getting it home.
Since then only to get any mud off.
I like it dirty, it's a 1400 quid bike with 50k on the clock, it'll never be a beauty queen and I won't try and turn it into one.
Having a sparkling clean ADV bike reminds me of those ads you see,
"Fully loaded GS, ready to go round the world, 3,000 dry miles only, never been off road". :S

Re: Do you clean
Im pretty religious with cleaning the chain after each ride. And also whenever my bike looks like this....which is pretty much after every ride.
But then are puddles not for cleaning??
Or rivers????

Re: Do you clean
i dont clean mine that often, when i fancy a change of colour from dirt to paint for example, or it gets especially dirty or covered in salt in the winter. i usually give it a hoze/brush/sponge down, then wax'n'shine the paintwork. the trouble with a black paintwork is it shows marks within ten minutes of washing.
then when i start getting scottoiler goo on my boots she gets a much more thorough muc-off+paintbrush deep clean. usually i just keep the cables, switches and controls clean and lubed.
theres method in my madness, the reason she looks so dirty half the time is because dust has stuck to the FS365 and ACF50 spray its liberally drowned in, and the back end is covered in scottoiler mist. it costs money to apply these, why would i want to wash it off and reapply regularly?

Re: Do you clean
I just cannot walk past my bike when it's sat in the garage dirty. Drives me crazy, and I am back out with the Mr Sheen and wd40.
Just got back from my Polish trip, didn't clean it then, but the day after being back home it was on carpet in the garage, Oil and filter change, full clean, grease and check from top to bottom, including touching up the centre stand with a bit of Satin Black.
Sorry, does that make me sad......

Re: Do you clean
Clean mine at least twice a month if i've ridden it or not, i'm not ocd about it but do like it looking nice, being in the panel beating game on and off since leaving school i cant stand a dirty vehicle.
Re: Do you clean
At the risk of sounding like a "Wuss". I regularly clean my bike. Its been down to Italy twice and takes into London and back every day. So its the least it deserves...
