With reference to my original post, I now look like an idiot thanks all!

Disagree with the above, it's a fine thread with a good, healthy opinions :)

It's been proved by the likes of the Yamaha WSB Team pulling the plug on the 2012 season.
I'm sure MCN aka "The Comic" will put some spin on the article or may cut & paste some paragraphs which we may have read from other mags etc.
I don't see it as a problem, but promoting their readers to pick up & read ABR "Hurrah !"

Could this be the transmogrification (big word of the day  ) of MCN into the Adventure market? With the Adventure bike, as we’re told, leading the way, as to the poorer sales of sport bikes, this could also be Industry lead too, so, I’ll keep an open, and optimistic, mind on the hole shebang

OHH ERR, handbags at dawn      !!
A most entertaining 5 mins reading all the contributions on this topic, why so many of you seem to be anti MCN and their FREE 42 page Adventure Bike supplement is beyond me??
I for one buy loads of different bike mags, i do not pin my colours on just one particular publication and i personally enjoyed MCN's freebe this week!
Their USP in this most crowded market place is they have weekly editions and one dosent have to wait weeks or months for the next issue; that point along with their massive used bike section and interactive website will i am sure maintain their dominance for many years to come.

Cozmo, I agree the supplement wasn't all that bad and was a good, fresh read for once!

What I can NOT stand is the constant re-hashed stuff put into that paper! Reviews that are slightly reworded every time they put them in and expect the masses to put up with it.

Personally I also hated the MCN forums, nothing more than a bunch of errant children participating in willy-waving as to who has the best bike and who is the best in MotoGP. It's old now and really quite boring (and this is coming from a 21 year old!).

I don't think it's an Anti MCN vibe as such (certainly not from me I regularly buy it) just a bit of amusement on the part of many that they only just seem to have cottoned on to the vast market for adventure bikes.

For me "Adventure Bikes" started in 1986 with the purchase of a R80GS and my eyes were opened to the possibilities :woohoo:

The one thing that did amuse me was the full page advert for Bike Stop in Stevenage (my local gear store) that might make you think they were the source for all things "adventure".

I was in there last week looking for some off road style gloves but apart from a few MX helmets and Googles or an Arai Tour X, not much adventure style gear to be seen. On the other hand, if this is a sign they are going to broaden their range, then all to the good.

Mind you I did discover yesterday that the KTM Centre in Hemel Hempstead carries the full Klim range, when it comes to clothing, I do like to try things on before buying rather than trusting to luck with interweb purchases. And I ended up buying two pairs of gloves, they were a bargain honest

Well their website i find very useful for window shopping for my next bike and for reading reviews on said model/s. I do not use their forum though so cant agree or disagree with your slant on that, when it comes to a forum for correspondence and opinion on bike related thingys i have only used the ABR forum thus far.

I like to read any mag that covers Adventure bikes.
Its just a shame that some dont research what they print!!
Page 17 of said publication states.

The big GS sprung to worldwide fame thanks to Ewan and Charleys Long Way Round
Mid way across Canada Charley said, "I love my big BMW1200 Adventure"

Strange that as the DVD I have shows him riding an 1150 Adventure and the 1200 didnt exist.

Or am I just being picky cus I cant afford a 1200ADV :S or get my knee down whilst pulling a wheelie

Good point, too, it seems that on page 045 it claims that it costs only £150 from Portsmouth to Santander!! well, I do know that it can cost some £190 for a one way voyage from Hull to Rotterdam  ???

Two different rides, bit sadly they weren't the clearest. Charley recently rode across Canada for his new series, on a 1200GS, and tweeted about how much he loved it. Voila!

check out the quality of the research they put in to their tests
this is a adventure bike test ...
at the end of a long road ride they um and r
and say almost tutting .... who really rides these off road anyway ..... well patently not them thats for sure

then comes the gem ...the multistrada would be no good off road at all
but its fast and handles well its got fab electronics ......they all nod
so ist place to the multistrada .... more nodding

next the big gs because it "grows on you like a weed" got more charicter than the other two ...

the ktm comes a distant third .....its obviously got no credentials at all ..then one wag says if your doing any off road the ktm may be the better choice ...gasp ...no shit sherlock ...blah blah

they had em for 600 miles ferchisakes ..why dont they goand find out
the super 10 never gets a mention other than bland ...so it you just bought one you better shoot yerself

i stumled on this video last night ..what a pethetic test by people who know nothing about what we are about ...
i was quite shocked how inept they were at assesing a bike for the purpose it was built
have look and i hope its just not only me ...talk about shallow

whats the wether forcast ..wheres me map
